Born in the small, coastal town of Queens, New York, I am the product of a mixed marriage - Dad being Southern Methodist from Montgomery, Alabama, and Momma a Roman Catholic from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
At the tender age of 18 months or so, I was wisked south of the Mason-Dixon Line, below which I have resided ever since... first Virginia, then Florida, and, since I was 11, northwest Georgia along the banks of the Chattahoochee (where it gets hotter than a hoochie-coochie...).
I am a lyricist/songwriter inspired by traditional country, blues, bluegrass, Jimmy Buffett, John Prine, John Hiatt, Lyle Lovett, Buddy Miller, Dr. Seuess, Ogden Nash, and high school classmate Alan Jackson (who, for some reason, doesn't return my calls... go figger).
I've worked with folks from Nashville to Norfolk to Nacogdoches... and currently with Kevin Reardon, in Riverside, CT... We've written songs for Buffett, Jackson, and Lovett, as well as George Strait, Tony Bennett, Martina McBride, Carey Underwood, and, well, the list goes on... However, none have recorded a single one of 'em...
yet...

Are You Ready for Christmas?:
This is a question I've been hearing at work for three weeks now...
What follows started out to be a song, but I don't know if it qualifies as such, or whether it'll become a seasonal e-mail spam-o'gram boinging it's way around the world-wide web (but that wouldn't be too bad either, I guess...)
I s'pose you could say it's sort of a "Dr.-Seuss-meets-Deitrich-Bonhoeffer" kind of thing... maybe it'll become an animated Christmas special between Charlie Brown and the Grinch...
In any event, warmest, safest, and merriest Christmas to all y'all...

WHEN A SOLDIER COMES HOME
(c) 2008 G. Smith
------------------------------------------------------
V1:
When a soldier comes home...
From across the sea;
Tears are shed...
By his family.
Tears of joy,
That he's safe from harm,
That once again,
He's in their arms.
When a soldier comes home.
V2:
When a soldier comes home...
From a far away land
Tears are shed...
Over dreams once planned.
Medals and fear
Over what lies ahead;
Nights all alone,
Sleepless with dread;
When a soldier comes home.
Chorus:
He leaves all behind,
To serve the rest;
When duty calls,

Henry Poole has left the building...:
One good thing from not making the cut over on MySpace for the Henry Poole Is Here song competition is that we've received some interest in the song.
Granted, there's some editing required because the title and chorus limit its "universality" somewhat (though that hasn't stopped songs like "Live and Let Die" or "Angie" or "Georgia on My Mind").
So we're knee-deep in re-writing a line or two to keep the message, but open the audience.
And the old adage, "Good is enemy to the best," is nowhere more evident that in our efforts. We've come up with half-a-dozen "good" replacements, but nothing that says, "STOP~! PERFECTION~!" (as if there is such an animal for someone as O/C D as we both...

Hi,
Once again it's time to thank all my friends and fans for all the success you have allowed me here on SoundClick.
I've released two songs and both have hit #1 on the Rock charts. I couldn't ask for any better support than that.
I figure everyone must be getting pretty sick of the same two songs so I've done it again.
I just released another remix of Kate Lesing's amazing vocals. It's called "Beat is Coming" and as you might guess by the title it kicks! It is heavily layered with guitars as you might expect from me and I also added a few surprises to keep you on your toes.
I guess you could best describe it as a Classic Rock/Disco Hybrid. LOL
If you get a chance please check it out and let me know what you think. Of course you're welcome to leave a few stars.
You can hear it at my profile page or use this link,

Thanks again for your support!
