tenstring's SoundClick blog - The desecration of Joseph's Tomb
The desecration of Joseph's Tomb
The Holy site of the tomb of Biblical Joseph has been desecrated. Palestinians attacked the worshippers at the Shrine until they withdrew and proceeded to burn the Shrine. On Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, Palestinians attacked the Shrine and placed 16 burning tires inside the sacred structure resulting in more fire damage to the tomb.
Respect for Holy Places is paramount for any final peace agreement. By their fruits they will be known. There was an agreement called the Olso accords in 1993 for all religions to be able to peacefully visit the Holy Shrine. The Breach of that agreement constitutes a failure of Trust for control of Sacred Sites.

The Temple Mount, The Holy Tombs in Hebron, Joseph's Tomb, and Rachel's Tomb shall be under the control of a Trusted fiduciary.

Furthermore, Abbas' Palestinian Authority confirms it's bias against freedom of access to Christians by saying that Joseph, who lived in approximately the fourteenth or fifteenth century B.C., was a Muslim, a religion that appeared on Earth in the seventh century A.D., approximately 2,000 years after Joseph's death. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah faction issued a statement confirming it's material breach of the Oslo Peace Treaty concerning cooperation for access of Christians and Jews to the Sacred Joseph's Tomb:

"Pay no attention to the rumors that we will work with Israel to restore the burial site of the holy Muslim Joseph," said the statement, issued from Nablus, the biblical city of Shechem. "We are going to guard this holy Muslim site."

"the tree is known by his fruit" Matthew 12:33
Who trusts these people to protect Christian access to the Holy Sites after their own words and actions prove that they have breached the Oslo accords whose purpose was Peace in the Middle East? That Peace Treaty has been breached continuously. The breach must be considered in any future Peace Accords.

The lack of agreement on Biblical Joseph is parallel to the lack of agreement on the Biblical Temple Mount. We urge a discussion and scholarly debate on these two topics regarding Peace in Israel and Palestine:

The existence of ancient Temples on the Temple Mount, and the "Muslim" nature of Biblical Joseph.

35 Knesset members from various political factions have signed a letter calling on the IDF to renew civilian access to the tomb of the Biblical Joseph in Shechem, the site at which Jews have gathered for prayer over the generations.

Signing the letter were legislators from the United Torah Judaism, Shas, Likud, Kadima, Pensioners and Yisrael Beiteinu parties. All the MKs of the National Union-National Religious Party signed the letter, as did MK Moshe Sharoni, chairman of the Pensioners party, most of the Likud MKs, including presidential candidate MK Reuven Rivlin, and United Torah Judaism MKs, and five out of the twelve MKs from Shas.

A couple of lessons from Ireland: -

1. Never mix religion with politics

2. Repression breads rebellion - You reap what you sow

There are six things which HaShem hateth, yea, seven which are an abomination unto Him:
Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood;
A heart that deviseth wicked thoughts, feet that are swift in running to evil;
A false witness that breatheth out lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
the cup is not quite full, but ...

Hallelujah!

May 5, 2008 Jerusalem Post reports: "Hundreds of people attended a night-long prayer session at the site of Joseph's Tomb in the West Bank town of Nablus.

The session was coordinated with the IDF, which secured the entry to the site, Army Radio reported."

"By faith Joseph, when his end was near, spoke about the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt and gave instructions about his bones." Hebrews 11:22

"Moses took the bones of Joseph with him because Joseph had made the sons of Israel swear an oath. He had said, "God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up with you from this place." Exodus 13:19

"And Joseph's bones, which the Israelites had brought up from Egypt, were buried at Shechem in the tract of land that Jacob bought for a hundred pieces of silver from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem. This became the inheritance of Joseph's descendants." Joshua 24:32

"And Joseph made the sons of Israel swear an oath and said, "God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up from this place." Genesis 50:25
