Philadelphia native “Soulist” was born on April 19 1989. Given the name Samuel H Jacobs III at birth; many in the streets of Philly know him as Lil Sam, Sam or Sammy. Born to Tasawa Williams and Samuel Jacobs Jr. He was raised by his beautiful mother own her own for basically his whole life in the North Philadelphia area. Raised around drama, the streets, and just going through the trails and tribulations of a hard knock life at the tender age of seven Samuel started writing poems. His writing wasn’t mature or didn’t have an extended vocabulary develop in each one of his early poems but they were the beginning of something great. He felt that writing was his time away from what he would call a f***ed up world. He believed that it let him be free and speech his mind. Creative and let him flow with joy as a pen gave him so much power. As a freshman in High Tech High (Mastery Charter High School), he found his greatness when he wrote his first emotional poem, War America. Standing up in front of about fifty people he was so scared but just read what he had wrote down on the paper. Not totally understanding the war that had started after 9/11, this young man made a statement that night leaving off stage gaining a standing ovation. From that day forward he has became an awesome writer, from poems to short stories, lyrics to scripts, he has done it all. His love for music has taking him on another journey through the genres of hip hop, rnb, soul, neo-so
