Sheki, age 18, was born Shekinah Glory Kee in Newark, New Jersey. She began singing with her church choir at the tender age of two. Audiences marveled at “the tiny girl with the great big voice.” Sheki has worked with a host of artists in and out of the recording studio. A regular at local fairs and festivals, Sheki cites gospel powerhouses Vicky Winans, Karen Clark-Sheard, and R&B artist Brandy Norwood as her inspirations. In her recent project, entitled Not A Lil Gurl NE More, Sheki fuses genres and elements and adds a dash of Asian influence to produce a unique sound. Tracks like “Angel” display a haunting smoothness. “The More I Try,” engages the gravity of domestic violence. “Show Me,” an energy-charged empowerment anthem, “Makes me wanna just hit the stage and perform,” remarks Sheki. This track looks at unspoken desires expectations that females have in relationships but do not communicate. “Perfect Boy,” a dance tune with a driving Caribbean element is about the excitement of finding unexpected love. “Go Outside” presents to be a club standard, without a doubt. “I like this track because it showcases my fun-loving youthful side,” says Sheki. It has a very retro, even disco dance feel that anyone can appreciate and “It’s my mom’s favorite track.” “I Need You” is a song about balancing the competing emotional demands of your girlfriends and your boyfriend. “My music is about different feelings. Happiness. Sadness. Depression. And Empowerment.

I am not here to showcase me but to show you some amazing musicians. 5 weeks ago I posted a blog about collaborating as a band online and if it was even possible. I posted a piano piece for anyone who wanted to add to it. I am so humbled by these 10 people. Here it is the final cut. It's called "Roads That Follow". Aside from me playing piano and some of the synth pad, here are the musicians that pursued this collaboration. ***Alex Lugones- Los Angeles- Bass Guitar***Andrew Malloy- Dallas TX- Soundscape Synth***Fernando Bretas Jr- Belo Horizonte Brazil- Synth Pads***German Fafian- Madrid Spain- Lead Guitar***Julia Rickers- Knoxville TN- Ambient Synth***Mauro Gentile- Mesero Italy- Rhythm Guitar***Moni Lopez- Veracruz Mexico- Synth Strings***Nick Ricciardi- Toronto Canada- Lead Guitar***Rich Almoguera- San Diego CA- Lead Guitar***Rob Bright- St. Lous MO- Electronic drums*** You can hear the song under Artist/Band > MWB Collaborations.
