Yes indeed, that is exactly what this gig will be for Shane O'Brien and O'Briens Edge and the fans, friends and followers who will attend this night of celebration at a Local Hang Out in "Pedro". There will be Local well known musicians attending this event who will be invited up to perform along with Shane on this night too.
So if by chance you find yourself in So Cal., in particular the "South Bay" area, then consider spending The New Years Eve 2012 evening together with us. It will surely be a night to remember...

Mike Watt broadcasts his radio show from The Jungle

I had the coolest of shared moments with Mike Watt engaging in a interview which was held in my studio called The Jungle. The Jungle Studio, which was named by a couple of Ironworkers who had visited me back in 2000. The name stuck back then and today in 2012 it still sticks and how nice it was to have Mr. Watt come by and broadcast his 3 hour long radio show from within these walls.
The three hour long podcast with interview and music became a perfect platform for Mike to delve into Shane and his very beginning moment in time as to the very first experiences with music. Questions Mike had asked dealt with this artist first songs ever heard and the instruments played from the earliest of ages. By the end of the three hours Mike and Shane got to all the early influences and all the grass roots basic development years of the late teens. The end of the show even highlights a live performance by Shane.
A second show is in the works for a date following Watt's current tour completion and his return to the South Land of California. That's when the meat of Shane O'Briens writings will come to surface also expect a solo performance that's sure to represent this developments of his unique style.

What's up with that is a title to my video that has had at least three different renditions during the journey in development phases. The releasing of the stages of the videos edits as individually valued accomplishments on my part as the author couldn't be resisted. I admit it. It was such a cool ride to see the whole thing develop from concept to the final concluded story telling music video it had become. It has also become apparent to me that the confusions of the same general appearance from the video imagery at the beginning could easily lead someone into thinking I've scene this before. But make no mistake about how it took all three varieties in order of production to achieve the final resulting video.
Now that being brought forth for consideration by prospective viewers, perhaps after viewing the final version might influence some proud Americans to thank someone the next time paths are crossed, who knows. As for me, let me make it perfectly clear... To all our Men and Woman who have served our great Nation from past times to current time, I thank You all.

O Brien s Edge here consisted of what Shane endearingly calls The San Pedro Crew.

One Track is an acoustic duo song Shane wrote in 2005 and recorded this duo s performance from January 2009. Simply by placing two sm57 s right in front of the folks playing the song as they do. With sentiment and Genuine delivery. Who s Lovin Who _ an appropriate title for the song and the moment.

Two more tracks included are 2008 studio recordings.
Live versions of Gentleman c2000 and That s The Way c2000
This time with musicians that belonged to 3 other South Bay Local Bands with musicians that happened to be in between tour dates. They are Bart Bollin on Bass, Bob Dion hitting the drums and Hoopa Johnny contributing a second guitar section complimenting Shane O Brien as he delivers true life stories, that anyone could relate to.
These Musicians wanted to be part of the Jungle Studio s recording history as well as another rendition of O Brien s Edge.

To top off the final track on this album Shane performs a song that he was writing as the tape rolled. The Melody, structure along with the lyrical story simply flowed as he strummed along. As usual for this artist, the first take was the keeper for
Holding On To My Memories c2009. Recorded February 2009.

A third CD release is in the mill to be ready the following month. May we will provide an 11 track of a live Rocking Blues collection from Shane s Jungle Studio. More on that next month as thing progress.

Eddie Krammer engineered all of the Jimi Hendrix music as well as work on Ted Nugent, Led Zeppelin and the Who. We spoke about microphone placements and analog to digital conversions of the final mix.
