Welcome to the SEBA
(Southeastern Bluegrass Association)
Hiram Chapter website
This web page is dedicated to Hiram Chapter news and event information.

Important Notice
===========
The Hiram SEBA Chapter is now closed.

After serving for 1 1/2 years as Chapter VP, I decided it was time to step down. We were unable to find a volunteer to take over the Hiram Chapter, so this Chapter is now closed. Our last meeting was October 2009.

Thanks to everyone for your support and attendance over the past months. We've had some great fun and plenty of good bluegrass to enjoy! I hope to see you all at future bluegrass events.

For further information about SEBA, visit:

Please see my message at the top of this page. Our next and possibly final meeting will be October 25th 2pm - 5pm at the Legacy Senior Community Center. See you there!

Thanks to the efforts of Chapter member Dane Avery, we have lined up our next Chapter meeting (August 23) at Legacy Senior Community Center in Dallas, Ga. This is a very nice facility with a large room, side rooms, and outdoor area available for pickin. NOTE: The meeting times will be 2pm-5pm. See the Legacy website for pictures:

July 26 Meeting at Raccoon Creek Park
========================
For July 26 we will again be meeting at the Raccoon Creek Park from 3pm-6pm for our temporary location. Please drop by to jam! As of yet, we still haven't found a permanent location for the Chapter. Several of you are helping us look and I very much appreciate that. Please continue your efforts and hopefully we will find a new home for SEBA soon.

June 28 Meeting
==========
We will be meeting at the Raccoon Creek Park for our June Hiram SEBA meeting. Wendell Hardy has graciously offered to allow us use of the Park as a temporary location in June. Please come out and help us keep this Chapter alive! There should be plenty of good jamming. Peggy and I will provide some drinks and food in coolers. If anyone wants to bring cookies or a dessert that would be great.

See http://www.raccooncreekmusic.com/ for further information about the Raccoon Creek Park and directions.

Thanks to everyone who turned out for our May 2009 Chapter meeting. The Bluegrass Sounds band performed for us and did a wonderful job. Thanks guys!

NOTICE
---------
We were saddened to announce that our Chapter can no longer meet at the Loving Shepherd Church. For various reasons the church is closing down and we must find a new home for our SEBA Chapter. This is effective immediately. If you know of a possible new location for our Chapter, please contact me. Must be in a public location, open to all. Terry and I will be working hard to find us a new home and will notify everyone once we have moved. As of now, however, there will be no more Chapter meetings until we have relocated.

Our March 2009 SEBA Hiram meeting was a major success! We broke all previous attendance records with 62 people showing up! The Mars Hill Porch Pickers put on a good performance that was afterwards followed by plenty of good jamming. At one point, I counted as many as 6 jamming groups going on. We had plenty of good food and bluegrass.

I'm working on updating this page with the latest video and photos, but have been having problems with the Soundclick uploads. So please be patient.

For April, we don't yet have a band lined up. However, in May we will have the well-known band Bluegrass Sounds, and then in July we have the Bruce Weeks Family Band. Lots of great upcoming bluegrass!

Don't forget the Yearly SEBA Christmas Party at the Central/Emory Chapter, December 14th from 2pm-6pm. SEBA will supply the drinks and meat. Bring a covered dish if you can.

Our next meeting July 27th will feature the band "Luther's Mountain". This is my own band. We play a mix of standard bluegrass and gospel tunes, with some occasional original tunes.

For August, we will have the gospel band "Grassroots 9" perform.

Thanks to Southland Sound for a great performance during out June meeting! Once again we had good attendance and plenty of good pickin.

Mark your calendars for the upcoming Raccoon Creek Festival July 11 and 12 near Dallas, Ga. We will have a SEBA table set up on Saturday. Drop by to say hello and if you can volunteer to take a 30 minute or 1 hour slot at the table that would be great also.

We picked up 3 new SEBA members at the June meeting! Many thanks to Wendell Hardy for giving free Raccoon Festival passes to new members who signed up during the Chapter meeting.

Thanks also to Terry Austin, who has volunteered to help with the Chapter. He is now running the Chapter meetings and did a great job at the June meeting. Terry is covering the meetings while Ron is handling the administrative VP duties. Between the 2 of us, I believe we can make the Hiram SEBA Chapter one of the top chapters in SEBA.
