I'm part of the belly dance community in Salt Lake City. Most people who assume that Utah is a mecca of puritanism are surprised to find out how large that community is here.

I started playing dumbek/darbuka in 1996. For the past couple years, I've been invited to perform live with local Middle-Eastern bands, including Desert Wind and Kairo by Night, and I'm also a member of a newly formed group called Bazeen (no web site yet).
