My name is John Mendenhall and my musical project is called When Machines Dream. WMD actually started several years ago as a side project and in the last few years, has become one of my two main projects. I am also 1/2 of Oscillator X, with Kyle Ward (of KaW, Smiley, Banzai, Inspector K, etc. fame) Individually and together our music has been featured in the video games In The Groove (1,2 & 3), the Pump It Up series (Pro 1 & 2, NX2, NXA, Fiesta & Jump!), iDance 1 & 2, , Snake 360 and ReRave. We have also been featured in advertising campaigns for Abercrombie & Fitch as well as numerous DVD & CD releases. We travel regularly all over the globe to bring our music to new & familiar audiences alike.

Oscillator X :: The Comic:
Oscillator X: The Comic is set in the distant future and chronicles the adventures of Oscillator X – techno-pop stars and part-time superheroes. The comic is based on the real-life band of the same name. The costumes, instruments, stage sets, etc. are all the actual stuff (albeit comic-ized) that Oscillator X uses in the real world. Even the duo’s keytars actually shoot in real life (fire and confetti rather than magnetic pulse resonance beams, but hey….). While the real band may spend more time writing songs and rehearsing than fighting evil robots, Oscillator X: the Comic allows the band to expand (in very tongue-in-cheek fashion) some of the ideas and concepts represented in their music

Being in a club surrounded by dancing bodies and pounding music sounded unappealing as f***. But I dragged my germ-ridden self to Fremont's Nectar to find out what all the fuss is about the Vancouver-based dance-pop duo.
Last night marked Oscillator X's (John Mendenhall and Kyle Ward) first live show in Seattle, despite the fact that they've been active for more than a decade. The guys have recently gotten a lot of attention for their Daft Punk-esque track "Dynamo" which is on heavy rotation on C89.5 FM. And their performance turned out to be well-worth my getting out of...

New Song - SHINE (Breakz Mix):
An uptempo remix of the song "Shine" from the album "Techno ~ Techyes". We did this version because we wanted to add the song to our live set, but needed it to fit with the intensity of the rest of the set. The breakz mix is about 35 BPM faster and features breakbeat-styled drums and some new F/X, etc.
