The House of HANIBL is an entertainment team specializing in hip-hop, dance, pop, and rock songwriting, production, and live performance. The studio team consists of soundtrack (the producer) and lead MC Phee. Onstage, Phee is joined by world-renowned martial artist Don Hyun K and Chicago’s premier girls-only breakdancing crew, the Chicago Golden Girls. HANIBL is represented by D. Kiolbassa (Ginsparg, Bolton & Assoc., Chicago).
Inspired by hip-hop culture’s greatest artists and films, Phee is a rapper and lyricist whose skills were honed on Chicago’s street corners and SubTerranean’s famous mic battles. Don Hyun K is a world-champion Wushu expert and actor whose choreography fuels HANIBL’s live shows. The Golden Girls, led by Felicia Buibas, add energy and grace onstage.
HANIBL’s sound, meanwhile, is supplied by self-taught pianist and songwriter “soundtrack,” who also happens to be a chiropractor. Armen Rah - the provocative, award-winning poet, MC, and activist who has opened for Dead Prez, Common, and Erykah Badu – fills out the roster with poetic and artistic credibility.
Together, their goal is to create classic, memorable, high-energy songs for people who like to think but also want to have fun. They are wrapping up three solo projects, a dance remix of “Big Windy,” an Armen Rah poetry mixtape, and slowly compiling sales numbers that reflect an explosive live show. They are looking for a multi-media partnership for their music, video, kungfu & dance.
