Bluebird Train, Up and Running!:
My newest bluegrass song is ready for a spin. My wife Sarah rode the last run of the Bluebird when she was a girl. So I wrote the song from her thoughts and memories. Been wanting to write a train song for a long time, and glad I finally did. Hope you enjoy it!

Well, Reuben's Train oughta be #1 by tomorrow. Great traditional cover song and deserving of the spot!
Keep up the good work and stop around more often!

You know Kevin that is the way they do it here, all the old timers get disgusted with people playing Wild Wood Flower like a race horse coming out of the starting gate, but that is the way bluegrass has gone. I will check on the gospel thing for you. Most of all those old song have been found and recorded, but you might find something that isn't done anymore. I have some old 78's around with gospel you don't hear anymore. I keep telling people bluegrass isn't a genre. The bluegrass band as defined by Bill is a band that plays, Country, folk, Blues, polka, Waltzes, and gospel even classical sometimes which are genres.

Rubens train. You should find the 1937 version of this one by J.E Mainer and Wade Mainer. Fiddle starts this one off sort of like Orange Blossom Special. Then the thing sounds like the drivers on a steam locomotive going uphill in a slow drag. Problem with bluegrass is you guys are expected to do everything fast. Nothing wrong with it, but the banjo in the slow version is very melodic all. My grandfather help to teach Wade the Banjo when he was still just a kid. Things do change your family did a great job.

It'd be a great version if it just had better vocals and instrumentation ;-))
Take care ol' buddy...
