I have been playing guitar full time for the last two years. I took lessons when I was 13 played rock till 19 but that all ended with the Viet Nam War. Four years later I met a Jazz guitar player and took some lessons and it got me started into jazz. I tried to get gigs doing jazz but end up back in rock. 1970 was the last time I picked up a guitar with my busy family life.
14 Years later, sitting in church during praise and warship I was lead to get a guitar. That week I found myself in a pawn shop and bought some cheep guitar. After some time I got to play in that praise & warship band and did so for a few of years. Unfortunately do to number of things, plus almost losing my business I again had no time for music. In 2000 I bought a PC software called Band In A Box I was now 56. At first I did it just for fun but by 2004 I was really enjoying my virtual band and started to get into jazz on a more serious level. In 2007 I was again playing in a great praise & warship team. At age 63 I left my job to do music full time. I have been blessed with good jobs in hotels, restaurants, corporate events & parties. I found many people love the old standers in a light jazz format mixed with Latin jazz and some blues/rock. I do play with a band, bass drum & guitar we get a full sound for a trio but most of the jobs are one man gigs, few are willing to pay for a full band even a small trio.
