Artist: John Holgate
Title: Unstable
Born in UK in '63. Started writing songs and playing guitar at 15. Had my first multitrack recorder a couple years later. Played in various rock bands, duos and the occasional solo stint. No one famous!! My writing ranges from country to modern blues to rock. It depends how I'm feeling, what I've experienced, what sort of mood I'm in. (Click the blue John Holgate under the Artist/Band page - to see all the songs). I can go years without writing anything and then in the space of six months I'll write an albums' worth. Listen, enjoy, comment if you like. Cheers - John
Que Decree Re-union: Well, Que Decree turned up for a week of general mayhem at my place (we get together every 5 or so years) and it just couldn't have gone any better. We managed to record 5 tracks which I'll put both here and on the Que Decree artist page. There's a few photos on the slide show. The band is: Hoges (me) guitar, keyboards, vocals. Smiiiiith (Paul Van Pinxteren) drums, backing vox. Skeet (Peter Neil) Bass. Badger (Nick Wilson) guitar, vocals. We had a blast doing it and hope you enjoy the music. Play it LOUD!!
Yet more collaborations: Danny Horton (Deadwater Monk) has finished beavering away on a collaboration called 'Small Minded People'. we've had a bit of fun with this, keep an ear out for this one. The Last Leaf (Ian & Jeff) and myself have just finished "Anywhere with you" and we're very pleased with how it's turned out , thanks to some fabulous strings and piano by Ian - let us know what you think. "On the verge of going nuclear" is a jazz-blues number with some great guitar and bass work and fabulous vocals by Chas (333maxwell). Am I having fun yet?? YOU BET!!! - John

Que Decree: For several years from about 1980 onwards, Que Decree tirelessly drove back and forth across Victoria doing gigs. Until, inevitalby, we got tired!!! So, now we get back together every decade or so and try to relive our youthfull rock band years. Brisbane at Red Zed Studios in '95 and Ballarat at Redwood Studios in 2005. It's all here. Play it LOUD. there are no acoustic guitars. This is guitar rock, the way we liked (and still do) it. You may leave comments, you may laugh at our photographs and you can certainly poke fun at some of my lyrics. But, you must PLAY IT LOUD, Dude!!! - John

Hi John, Hope all is well with you, Must be getting good weather where you are, Enjoy it please.
I just made this song called "Insanity" and I have a very low bass in it. I can hear it in my headphones but I can not hear it on my computer speakers. Can you please come hear it and tell me if you hear the very low bass on your speakers or not. Thank you much, Darrell

Hey,

How's it going? I've been pretty busy myself.

I wanted to let you know that I uploaded a new song called:
"Without You (Ballad of Dona)"
It's actually a previously unpublished song written by my brother Paul back in the 80's. Don't let the title fool you. It's not your everyday ballad. wink ;)
I'd appreciate it if you could take it for a spin when you get a chance and let me know what you think.

I also have given "Slay the Dragon" a complete re-mix. If you liked it before I think you'll really like it now. Turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. I'd appreciate any feedback you can offer.

All of my songs have been recently re-mastered for more dynamic range and a less fatiguing sound. Hopefully this will result in a more pleasant listening experience for all.

More songs coming soon! smile :)
Thank you for your support.
