THE NEW ME...
Greetings SC family. I pray you have all been blessed with a GREAT 2013. We have been looking for doom and found hope. I had to change my focal point in order to change my direction of thinking. I hope I wasn't too negative in the past; It's just that I needed to get past the first three dimensions in my thinking. I am now using fourth dimensional thinking and it is full of wonder. (WONDERFUL)

I have indeed been busy working from the platform I built right here on Sound Click and will soon be able to meet my goals with all of you in mind. I told some of you that I would be tapping your shoulder soon and we are almost ready to do just that.

I have started a BLOGTALK RADIO Network BLACK WHOLE RADIO0. I will be starting This Wednesday, Feb. 6th at 7:00pm est. The First show out of the gate is CREATIVELY SPEAKING with co hosts Michelle Matierre and Aisha Karifa-Smart. Film, Culture, Dining and spirituality combine to make this our flagship show. We have a great lineup. Please join us as we embark on 200,000,000 listeners in 3 months. We need your help. Listen and share through the archives. THANKS AGAIN

Somos Unidos
I would like to take this time to mark the passing of another one of my heros.

Mr. Luis Reyes Rivera has joined the growing list of our Honored Ancestors.

He is a very spiritual and influential Poet and activist. I used "is" because as I explained in my last blog, we live on through our art.

Mr. Reyes-Rivera is one of the Original New Yo Ricans. His scolarship and activism with respect to Black Latino unity will forever be felt in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. I would go further to attribute the fact that New York has not fallen victim to some of the artificial tension between Blacks and Latinos because of the work of Men like him. There is a growing 'Blatino' movement that exists in the underground of New York. No doubt, there are nuckleheads on both sides who try foster mis trust and disunity; However, the majority of us who know our history, know better.

Muchisimo Gracias Papa!

DEATH IS AT OUR DOORSTEP
Whitney Houston has joined our honored ancestors last night. I, along with many of you, mourn her passing from this world. We recently lost Don Cornelious, Heavy D and Etta James. The reality of life is that it is finite.

Life and death walk beside us regularly. Death is waiting for the opportunity to take over, where life leaves an opening. We should only take stock of our own lives when we witness the passing of a neighbor. I often say that our music and art will outlive us all. It's true. I only hope that I can make enough music to properly represent all of my complexities before my time here is up. I post as much of my music as I can for free. I still have about two more C.D.s worth of music that you have not heard. I try to update my older work that I have posted here along with rotating some songs in and out of my playlist to keep you up on my current mindset.

I pray you all stay well enough to make your musical legacy a reality. I know we will be heard, one day, without the pressure of wondering how someone else feels about what it is we did. When I'm dead and gone I would like my music to be discussed by people who want to know the thoughts of a random "Black Brother" from the poorer side of New York. I try to write and produce with that in mind.

All things being considered, I can not say the hours and years I spend working on my music have been wasted. I enjoy solving problems. Those of you who try and maintain a home studio know exactly what I mean. There are days when nothing works until you tear it apart and put it back together. This is the love of the art and science at work.

To all my friends, KEEP PUTTING YOURSELF INTO YOUR MUSIC! This way I can visit you, when you too are gone. I hope you will still visit me.

New Year New Fear
I have the feeling that I'm in the first car of the Cyclone Rollercoaster on Coney Island In New York. It is one of the oldest remaining coasters in the United States. It has the feeling, as it climbs the track for that first big drop, that there is certain death ahead. Your mind begins to wonder if the morning inspector was drinking and partying too much the night before. The crest of the hill reveals decaying track and wood from a long forgotten past. In a few seconds, it will all be over. Good or bad, we will know the deal. I am sure we will never know what hit us. I, like many of you, leave my music as testement of me. I am thankful to have been steady in my desire to stay true to my peeps and to HipHop without compromising myself or my values. In the end, my music will have to speak for itself.
The Presidential election will be the curve at the end of the drop which throws us all from side to side while transferring the momentum of the fall, sideways. hold on tight and stay focused. We can and will survive.

Better safe than sorry
Peace! Sound Click family.
There is always time for us to engage in our day to day rants about music and it's relationship to our political reality. We have been glossing over the obvious without offering any solutions. I have, in the past, warned you all about the impending financial crisis. I told you that we should gather those whom we love close and not worry so much about material things over people. Well, now is my "put up or shut up" moment.

I can't break my arm patting myself on the back if I knew all of these things were on the way while doing absolutely nothing but writing and making music about it. In my small world, that is not enough. We can make a different reality with small focused ACTIONS. Therefore; I offer you all, the facts as I know them.

There are powerful forces at work around the world, making it difficult for poor, innocent, "salt of the earth" type people to live. We are not meant to live "on" Earth we are meant to live "with" Earth. The man versus nature scenario is outdated. Man has already lost. The paricites among us are stripping and selling our natural resources on a deadly scale. What should we do about it? Some say we must fight them until the last man, woman and child has gone to join our ancestors. The enemy, as we know, is a master of death and destruction. Peaceful people don't stand a chance.Violence begats more violence leaving us to become that which we abhor!

The solution came to me by way of a little old Caribbean lady who told me to remember these words: Evil will destroy itself and God is love. I never forgot what she said. Since I agree, I must now help you all to survive the pending self destruction of evil. Enter Bro, Aton Edwards.

Aton Edwards, the author of "Preparedness now" will be giving a lecture and demonstration in Harlem, New York this Thursday December 15th 2011 from 6 to 10 p.m. The location will be at the Historic Muhammad Mosque No.7. 106-08 West 127th street (between Malcolm X & Adam Clayton Powell Blvd) All are welcome. There is an admission price of $20 at the door to offset the cost of bringing him to Harlem, first come first served seating. The event will be live streamed at www.2012Res.com (CLICK THE ATON EDWARDS LINK)
For additional information call (646) 807-5472 or send an email to TheBowTieSociety7@gmail.com.

I would like you all to take the time to learn this important science of inner-City Urban Survival Training. Aton Edwards is internationally known for his expert knowledge on the subject as well as being an interesting teacher. His books will be on sale and more importantly, he will be imparting the blueprint on how the meek shall inherit the earth.

It has been some time since I have written a blog. There is more than enough to write about. Like most of us, I'm all talked out and more willing to listen. I will, however mark the return to the ancestors of M.C. Heavy D.
May you have a Peaceful Journey home to your place as an honored ancestor and a HipHop icon.

THE GIFT AND THE GIVER
I read a post by one of my Sound Click friends which made me realize my own selfish nature. I am a producer as well as an M.C. I like my style and want to preserve it. I play to the day when a strong solo vocal stood for something in the genre. It did not have to be male, a strong female voice was just as good for me to say "Now That Is an M.C."

My desire to preserve that portion of HipHop history makes some people figure I'm just "old" and don't know any better. There are "pureists" in every genre of music, why should HipHop be any different? The new sound is cool with me, I just would like to hear a few C.D.s with a nod to the past that got us to where we are today.

Many of us receive requests for us to check the songs and beats of what we would consider our competition. I don't look at it like that. I see us all as a brother/sisterhood of talent waiting to be known in a fickle industry. I do listen to the beats you invite me to hear. I try to leave positive feedback whenever I can. I want you ALL to keep pushing each other to greatness.

Jared, Mad South East has been stopping by my page from time to time keeping me posted on his trials and struggles where he lives. I have took him up on his invitation to some FREE BEATS. I chose a joint and gave him the props he deserves for a great job. I will have to pay him If I ever decide to push this joint on a paid C.D. and I would be happy to pay him what it is worth, A GRIP!
Thank You Jared. BIG UP!

I have used Dark Productions in the past on a remix of "Henrietta Marie" another Great Job by them. We should pepper this site with as many different collabos as we can fit on the pages to show each other some love. I have recommended many of you to other people without you knowing it. I just want somebody to get paid.

Meanwhile, check The Mad South East Remix of Caribean Shout-Out. Keep aware of your local politics and...

Rest in Peace Gil Scott Heron
I would like to send the greetings of Peace to the family, friends, and numerous fans of our ancestor Gil Scott Heron. He is a big musical influence in my life and work. His style pioneered my own. The vibe of Jazz with the big beat sound of HipHop under powerful lyrical content is how I try to do my thing.

You will be remembered as one man who stood up for the community. You reminded us how the urban landscape was and is shaped. Not alot of hype but a whole lot of SOUL.

I know it is important to give someone their "props" while they live. I know music will outlive us all and Gil Scott Heron lives in me.

I am sincerly sorry
This goes out to ALL of my Sound Click friends. I have no excuses. I only hope you forgive me. I have, in my opinion, done what I have been trying to avoid for my entire time on this site. I RUSHED A SONG!

My latest song "Devil's Playground" was uploaded BEFORE I had the chance to review my mix. I had promised my friend, Bro. Hakim, a present to honor his Born Day. I wanted to publish it as close to February 21st. as possible.

The 21st. of February is the anniversary of the assasination of our Brother Minister Malcolm X. In Brother Hakim's first statement, he shares the feelings we have concerning the Government's role in the plot and Murder of our Brother.
I feel it is important to get it across to our people the fact that no one takes the death of Malcolm X harder than those who would walk in his shoes. We all share a "Malcolm X moment" in the Nation.

I remixed the song, I uploaded the version that I should have posted originally and ask your forgiveness. I will try, from this moment on, to bring you the Best of My Ghetto Manifesto.
PEACE! JX
P.S. Next time, If there should be one, I would hope to hear from at least some of you, telling me that I'm slipping.
I don't care if it is private or out in the open. That is what S/C is all about.

Time To Pay The Piper
Stay still, for just a fe seconds and you can hear the whisperings of change. There are people who Sound Click from all over the world. I just became friends with an artist from Australia. No matter where you are, you can hear the train as it enters the station. Change, I mean REAL change is on it's way.

You can research my blogs for a few years to know that I dont write trash. I have given some careful thought to what I have, and will write because I care about the people who may read these few words from my soul to yours. I get some deep responses either directly or indirectly which I always respect. The change that I refer to, is Universal, and will not end until all that has been threatening the existence of real human beings has been eradicated. The cleansing has begun.

The winds of change are rooted in the past but have transcended time and space. I watch seemingly ordinary people do extraordinary things in the face of great opposition. This is the time of the "common" man and woman. We have been told that we must have an EDUCATION. What they mean is TRAINING. Education serves the recipiant while training serves the donor. The prospect of education being given to our children today is laughable. The kids are NOT alright. They are not able to question their environment because it would lead them to question the authority which controls it. It's not a good look for Empire and Dictatorship.

The corporate model is designed to pull the best out of a thing including our mind and soul. Once the raw material is mined, the value is dragged to the top, anything else is recycled or disgarded, that includes us.
Have you ever wondered why, in school, our sub sets are called "classes"? We are sifted and catigorzed from the very start. They place challenges in front of us to weed out the best, and the rest are left to educate themselves or be trained for additional use. Discipline is essential to ensure a docile workforce.

The owners of the social order we have been subjected to, are no longer able to direct the class. They were our teachers. They gave us the sciences, beauty and culture. They also gave us modern, organized religion. The responsibility of the elite has been devolved to the point that they have run out of ideas. The creative gene is now with the masses of downtrodden people, who nurtured and exercised creativity in order to survive. They don't know it yet, but that has given them the dominion the rulers have never been able to fully obtain. The bull is out of the barn, and running.

Everything we see from now on, is a subset of this principal. The Media will try diligently to convince us that what we see and feel is not what it is... Until it's too late.
We should not worry, because what is to come is truly far superior to that which is. The wobble in the Earth's axis causes the precession of the Equinoxes. The wobble in our thinking causes us to make choices that follow. Both the Earth and the people of the Earth are heading towards perfection...AND

NAPPY NewYear
That's not a typo. I said NAPPY, Why, because in the Black community, nappy represents the counter culture. Most corporate types were putting all types of gels and products into their hair to submit, while the nappy style meant you would not roll over and fetch!

I am wishing you all a year of non-conformity. I am asking you all, nappy or not, to get out of the mindset of the past year which meant "every man ( or woman) for themselves. The entire world is becoming wired into the corporate structure which means dictatorship. There is no freedom in corporation, you either submit or you're out.

Sound Click is an artist's community. I have a mental picture of one of those Midevel villages outside of the walls of the castle where all of the REAL living takes place. Yeah, the hoodlums and bandits lived alongside the jugglers and sages, but they all existed together because of each other's strengths. I have a home there. We all do.

I refuse to be frightened into giving up my freedom. The founders of the United States (slave owners) understood the need to escape the monastic rule of England, They hated the fact that if you were not born of "noble blood" you could only rise by Military valor, the spirit of the nation being sucked out by plutocrats. I'm of the same mindset. I am of noble blood and so are you. Don't give yours away to the corporation for less than you are worth.

The only way I know how to fight the rulers of this dying system, is through CREATIVITY. It is the mind of God within you. It speaks to and through you, to His people. It wakes you up in the middle of the night with an idea you have to try BEFORE you go to work, The masses don't get it right away so you have to work harder.

We cry out to the masses of people to look away from the hypnotic trance-like lifestyle for just a second and be free forever! Look away, I have a Mohawk. Look away, I have fourty pounds of gold chains around my neck. Look away, I have fifteen pierceings. look away, I wear my pants so low you can see my drawers. Look away, I have a tatoo, of a woman with a tatoo of me, on my arm. Just look away!
Be happy! Be nappy!

It Is What It Is
BLACK is not a color, it is the embodiment of every color that will ever exist.

It is chromatic excellence.

It is a state of mind.

For example:The commitment made by the late Tina Marie was not completely evident until her passing, with nowhere near the media coverage she deserved, with respect to her talent. That's how they would treat a Black entertainer. Black to the end. R.I.P.

BLACKOUT
You never miss the water until the well runs dry. I had a new song I wanted to upload to my music page on Sound Click last week. To my suprise, Sound Click was down! I got the familiar "website not found" message I get when searching for so many, now extinct, record labels.I reset my browser and tried again. I never thought there would be a day without Sound Click. I researched the incident over the internet and found a few artists who blogged about it.
It was official. No Sound Click, and no one knew when, or if it would return.

My mind quickly went to my "friends" list, wondering how I would ever reestablish the myriad of connections I made over the years. I do have another site, but nothing like Sound Click. My music and the way I represent here means a great deal to me. I still think I am gonna create my "masterpiece" and SC is gonna be the first to hear it.

Did you have a simmilar experience? Did you even know the site was down? Big up! to the I/T professionals who fixed the problem.

The Sins Of The Father
There are few more abhorant things in the universe than the site of a person who has been lynched. The United States has a not-so secret history of savagery against African people who were enslaved. The So-called, Nergro, in America has been the subject of lynching, with no help from his own Government.

The murder of Mr. Frederick G. Carter in Mississippi, not far from Money, Mississippi where Emmett Till was murdered forty five years ago, is a painful reminder of just what some segments of America think of Black people, and Black MEN in particular. for more information on this crime against humanity you can visit this link.http://www.blogtalkradio.com/antoinette-harrell/2010/12/08/body-discovered-hanging-in-a-tree-in-greenwood-mis
... The mother of Mr. Carter Mrs. Gloria carter is accepting letters at: Gloria Carter P.O. Box 176 Sunflower Mississippi 38778.
I have not been on SoundClick much in the last week because I, like many of my friends, thought it was only right to try and do something about this latest lynching. As a protest, we changed our Face Book profile pictures to images of lynchings throughout our history here in America.
People were horrified and shocked which was exactly the point. Why have a happy holiday season, when we are still being hunted and murdered like the brown bear in New Jersey?

Lyncing is a form of terrorism which should be treated as such. The A.G. Eric Holder has a responsibility to his ancestors to investigate and bring everyone responsible for these type of crimes, to the bar of justice. I know he will not, because he, like our President, are hamstrung by the issue of 'RACE" in America. The white supremist knows that the Obama administration will not rock the already sinking boat. They can kill with reckless abandon, anyone who is not from among the black elite. Period. When one is not safe, no one is safe. I think this will be a part of the "new Southern strategy" going into the 2012 Presidential season. They are so hell bent on making the Whitehouse White again, that they would kill enough black people, with no response from the government, as to disenchant the last of the die-hard Obama supporters. This will, in my opinion, throw the United States into the type of tribal warfare we have seen in Ruwanda and The Congo in Africa. Once this fire gets started, it will be very difficult to extinguish. Be ye well warned. No one knows what started the war of Armeggedon. The U.S. Congress has yet to pass an anti-lynching bill. They apologized for not doing so since the 1950s, but still have not done so.

I am posting a version of "The Money Mississippi Blues" By Langston Hughes I recorded years ago. I hope you understand why it is still relevant today. In it, I never said the name "Mississippi" in the body of the poem because it left a bad taste in my mouth. The sins of the father will be passed on to the son.

POSITIVE BROTHERS
Here we go again! I am in one of my moods. I received a couple of confusing e-mails from a song I posted last week entitled "Dragon's Touch". The thinking of some, was that as a brother who promotes non-violence in the HipHop community, I had no business posting a song that teaches people the art of hand to hand killing. They maybe right.
I wrote and recorded the song out of respect to Master Long who wrote a great book on the subject of exploiting the weaknesses in the human anatomy. It was not to promote murder, but the art of self defense.

In stark contrast, I uploaded a song I wrote and recorded a few years back entitled:"Positive Brothers".
It is part of my "hood Tales" series of fictional stories set to rhyme. It is about a Brother who uses mental Jui-Jitsu on a gold digger. He is as effective on his rival as the Dragon was on his. I know of the contrast that exists in us all.

I fight my demons on a daily basis. I don't always win, but I stay in the fight. My music is a great help in my battle. The great struggle. The Jihad Al- Akbar as the Arabs call it. The reason the Christians use the cross as their symbol. The verticle line in opposition to the horizontal line. One calls us to rise while the other calls us to sleep.

We can not deny our "lower self". It is a part of who we are. I have not always been striving towards the positive, I came up from hell, not down from heaven, I only want to expand my and our potential. We have a limited time here on this planet and we should expect from ourselves the very best. I struggle for balance and pray that you do too. Stay strong and in the good fight.

The message in the music
Sound Click allows us to grow as a music community. I am willing to take my knocks in the head in order to get my point across. Most people would rather do nothing than to try another method of doing things.
I had been communicating with a few producers and beatmakers for a while. I listen to alot of beats because I love HipHop! Instrumentals are the foundation for stepping up your vocal and freestyle skills. If you go out to show out, you may run into an experimental beat that you never had the chance to flow to, and you could get stuck. I produce my own songs. I have been just O.K. compared to most of you. I am learning what makes a Great instrumental for an M.C.

I set an appointment with Sandor from Dark productions after choosing the beat "War" off of thier page. We set a price for the exclusive. He was right on time and the beat was mixed and set up for reason 4 which I also use. I couldnt wait to get to the lab with my new beat. I worked for two evenings on the song: Henrietta Marie(Dark Remix) You can find it on my band page. It's also available for free download like my other joints.

The story behind the song: This is the "sister Piece" to "Forget Me Not" This is a true story about the sinking of a slave ship, the Henrietta Marie. The official story stated it was sunk durring a storm 35 miles off of the coast of Florida.
I know better and I told the story.

I would like to thank Maurice and Sandor for the beat. I would also like to thank Wesleyne, from Congo, for the vocals. I did the final production and could use some feedback on the product. I am not exactly finished but thats why I use Sound Click for the feedback of the community, HOLLA BACK!

Freedom is not FREE!
You will pay a price for freedom. Don't think someone is just going to hand power over to you. The postulate in physics goes, "power concedes nothing without a demand".
Ask for nothing and that's exactly what you'll get.

I have watched some of my friends, who are union members, struggle over the last few years when it comes to the political aspirations of the union versus its membership.
It seems as though they, are in some instances, opposed to one another. This is not a healthy body. I have come to the conclusion that some unions have been infiltrated and subverted by the very businesses they should be opposing.
This observation does not come shortsighted. I think we have not seen an end to unions in America. I think they need to be rooted of all "agents" and spies. The "Jason Borne" mentality reigens supreme inside the unionhall.
Once the angents are gone, the business of bringing the people back into the union could and will get America back to work for a living wage.

I hear some of the more fortunate in society talk about how they are working multiple careers. How/why is that? Are you telling me that you need to be a radio host, college professor and a columnist (three great careers) just to afford a middle class lifestyle in America? Twenty years ago, any one of those jobs would have gotten you to the other side of the economic fence. That one man, has now put two of his fellow citizens out of work. He would argue that he is the right 'Person" for the job; However, he maintains that he has no time to sleep or enjoy the fruits of his labor. The WAGE is the issue. Would you work two jobs if one job paid you enough to live, save, and grow? I think not.

Sociologists maintain the idea that sleep is a vital part of human achievement. Good sleep produces ideas and creativity. Buisness, by keeping us going twenty four hours a day, is supressing the cycle of growth and therefore cutting it's own throat. I contend we, as working class people, draw a line in the sand and stick to it. The workers of other "first world" nations have made it clear through the vote and support of unions, they intend to live well in the future. As the decsendent of slaves here in America, I know I was brought here to be worked to death and I am trying NOT to let that happen.

We have to fight for ourselves, our families and the Republic. The Democracy has failed us by way of currupt legislators and people in high places. We have the obligation to strive against tyrany as Americans. If we do not, well, we deserve the neo-feudalism that is headed our way. When I say feudalism, it is polite language for SLAVERY!

The Peace Keepers
Those of you who know my words should know that I am, at least, thoughtful. I try to measure twice before I cut once. I am old enough to know that a mistake that cost me a year now, is more valuable than a mistake that I may have made, at say, age seventeen. This is true for most of us who are inclined to music. We think.

I have been looking for a community based organization that would actually be about something worth my valuable time. I found it! I went to my first rally here in Queens where I live, this past Saturday. I spent about two hours with men and women who care enough about the community enough to put themselves in harm's way for the sake of it.

As we have been told, for better or worse, there is way too much violence in our community. Mostly young, mostly Black and Latino men, as victim and perpitrator. We dont need any more statistics, because I don't trust them anyhow. What we do need is solutions, internal solutions to get to the heart of the problem and stop it. That's where the Peace Keepers come in. They/ we organize with existing groups for the sake of our children and youth. There is diversity in the backgrounds of the membership. Some Christian, we met in a Church to pray and get our marching orders, some Muslim, Captain Dennis Muhammad, of The Nation Of Islam, gave a rousing speech. Some, activist, Sister Erica Ford also gave a great organizing and inspirational address. We then took to the streets blazin' with orange on our backs. It was called an "hour of power."
