Born June of 2007, I-Ray was formed with the hopes of playing original music to inspire Filipinos everywhere. Their sound, a fusion of reggae and rock, has a political view of society. What was 1st known as Bless the Drones evolved into the birth of I-ray. From the Rastafarian term "irie" meaning no worries, the band was founded by Mac Viviezca (lead guitar) and Danniel Ancheta (vocalist). The two go way back but lost touch for a couple of years until they reunited in the summer of 2007 to once again join forces and form a band.
Originally a four man band, with the Danniel also playing guitar, they decided to add another member and invited Jamil Antonino (rhythm guitar) to take over. Jamil had been helping the band out since the 1st time he saw them play. After jamming with a couple of bassists and drummers, an old friend, Jerone Alfonso was asked to play bass who in turn brought in Elmar Siriban (drums) to cement the line-up. As the band progressed, so did their music. The broad range of influences from reggae to rock has made I-ray who they are today..
