31 August 2008 - Spring has sprung
Now is the time for longer days, warmer mornings and best of all, time to do what we need. Stay tuned. I am polishing off 5 new tunes. 2 instramentals and 3 songs with lyrics. The "jewel box" and "I've had enough" are completed and being remixed.
I have just completed the lyrics for "from on high"," the next step" and "black flag" a tribute to Black flag, The Ramones and other US stalwarts. I plan to release all of them at once as a mini album....along with a cover of one of my favourite "novelty song " female plumber" by splodgeness abounds. Hope you all like the whole thing.
Peace

The fast and the fatal....Well, its been over a month since the last blog and the last song upload, but it feels like it was a couple of days.
Sorry to all of those I haven't been in touch with lately, but I will try a bit harder this month.
I now have about 8 tunes half finished and have written another 2 or 3....hopefully they will be brought to life soon.
I think I now understand that life is short and we need to do things like it was yesterday.........
Thanks to all of my friends for their support.
Peace

I have a new song up on my eljape site. Its the final version of the song I was going to call Kangaroo, but have now changed it to Sydney 1932.
For those who dont know, thats the year the Sydney Harbour Bridge was opened to the public.
Stop by and let me know what you think

Brandona nd myself reached our first top 5 with the E'ven song collaboration. This is really wierd with me sitting in Sydney and he in the US. Awesome guitar work my friend
Well I have laid out the basic tracks for 2 of the 3 songs. Thats a start....
Now comes the tedious bit.
The first song is stripped back like the Polices " walking on the moon" The song is completely differnt but I have tried to capture the same bass, drums, guitar vocal arrangements. Its a song call Kangaroo and based loosely on the DH Lawrence novel.
The other is a bit of an Islands feel call "sky high" and its about holidays with the one you love....
The photo this week is one of the family enjoying my birthday a couple of years ago.
Until next time
peace

You Know the hardest thing for me is sitting down and do the "hard" work of recording and mastering the stuff I write. Anyway time to buckle down and I have started 3 new projects.
One thing I do love is learning from the greats, and I have been listening to some great stuff by the Flaming Lips, DEVO ( with Brian Eno producing), the Police ( a study in stripped back production) and old Alice Copper ( with Bob Ezrin producing). These guys really know you to bring the best out in a song, so I am trying to learn from them.
I also am listening to all of your comments about whats good or bad in the tunes I have put up as the audience feedback is the most immediate input I can place on my stuff.
All of this I hope creates orginality and I hope you enjoy the journey with me.
Talk to you all soon
peace

News and Stuff
Hey all,
Thanks for the great reviews on "Wishing" . All of you are too kind.
Just thought I'd add some things to let you know a little more.
Ihave just taken up long distance running since October 07. Yes like everything I do in life, I'm at it 100% and average 50k's a week ( about 35 miles).
I entered my first race the other day, 14 k funrun and came last in my division....oh well at least I coud stand at the end of it...
On the music front I have just brought a new Tele and am currently breaking her in. All guitars on "Wishing" was that guitar, just to show its versatility.
I have demoed about 5 songs which I am working on at the moment. Oner is called "The Jewel box" named after some stars in the southern sky.
Another is called "Sky High" which is a love song for my wife. Yet another is called " Kangaroo" ( I am Aussie afterall...)
Stay tund and drop in from time to time. I do appreciate your support.
Oh yeah, the picture is me with my cricket team, after we had won the winter comp in 2006....
Peace
