charleyrocknroll's SoundClick blog - SOUNDCLICK.COM confuses the HELL out of me..
SOUNDCLICK.COM confuses the HELL out of me..
SOUNDCLICK.COM may be the least USER FRIENDLY site I am registered with. I'd love to be able to find my list of songs uploaded on this site, when ever I want to, but as it is, I stumble across it once every BLUE MOON. It's difficult to promote what you can't find yourself. (grin)
If some of you that MIGHT read this, if you can find it (grin), can enlighten me as how to navigate this maze of prompts and dead ends, I would really appreciate it.
I'm not sure I see much of a future for me and SOUNDCLICK.COM. I was looking at what leads the charts here, and stuff I don't even call MUSIC, leads the best sellers and MOST LISTENED TO lists..hahahahaha. BEATS ?? WTH is that?? Natives in deepest, darkest AFRICA, beating on a hollow log with a stick, can make a beat..(grin)..woo hoo. If the standard of excellence has fallen so low as to make primal, primitive noise the most sought after product in the music industry....ok, I had better stop right here..(grin)>>kicks the soap box out of the way>. back to navigating SOUNDCLICK.COM.. I'd appreciate any help offered..charley rocknroll

Let's get profound..
these things were part of a "chain letter" thing I saw. I deleted the "chain letter" part, I hate those things, but I kept what it had to say, since I thought it was very profound. please read this and let me know what you think..charley

1. At least 2 people in this world love you so much they would die for you.

2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.

3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.

4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.

5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.

6. You mean the world to someone.

7. If not for you, someone may not be living.

8. You are special and unique.

9. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.

10. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.

11. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely turned your back on the world. 12. When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you believe in yourself, probably, sooner or later, you will get it.

13. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.

14. Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know.

15. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Charley,
Good news! Your song "Baby You're Bad For Me" has now been entered into the "The Green Room" (See: www.meermusic.com/fg_greenroom.htm.)
As always, our reviewers and listeners will let us know which songs they favor, and as a result of their initial vote, your song may advance to the next unassigned "Q" Edition of Fame Games.
The amount of exposure:
- During the Green Room stage (that's where your song is now) - relatively small, limited to reviewers and visitors to the site. According to our statistic server a typical song in the Green Room currently gets on average about 300-500 plays in a week. Songs advance based on listener & peer approval and may not initially involve full reviews. Fan votes are counted as well. All votes are supervised by our production team to ensure complete fairness of the process.
- During the Fame Games Qualifier stage - large level of exposure, all the music is aired terrestrially and on the web. All songs receive multiple listener and peer reviews (including at least some logged by collaborating experts) and scores. Unique fan votes continue to be counted.
- During the Fame Games Main show stage - at least double the exposure, and in case of Track of the Week/Month winners, that exposure doubles with each week. Additionally, all participants in the Main show have the best snippets of their songs repeated in our "Previously on Fame Games" section, for a month.
All of this is still undergoing changes and modifications and we'll keep you posted on any alterations.
We're explaining everything in greater detail on our site (www.meermusic.com/review.htm), specifically, turn to www.meermusic.com/articles.htm and www.meermusic.com/faq.htm to get more information about the details of our Transitional Phase.
FATHER'S DAY
Probably one of the most "taken for granted" aspects of our lives, is our mental health, that is, until illness saps your abilities to think straight. Your mental health then becomes the highest priority in your life.
Compare it to an athelete suddenly becoming paralyzed, and then multiply that envisioned feeling by 100. Hard to do? Yes, I know. I never had a clue what mental illness was about, until it ran over me like a freight train over a puppy. Since I have been able to claw and scratch my way back from the GATES OF HELL, where MAJOR DEPRESSION dropped me off, my mental health is an everyday focus, like breathing. I'll die if I don't pay attention to it.
You think I am being over dramatic? Then you are ignorant of the facts of MAJOR DEPRESSION and mental illnesses, in general. Don't worry, you are not alone. I have found the majority of people I've tried to explain what has happened to me, to be just like you. They don't have a clue.
For people stricken with these diseases, there are many mental illnesses and levels of each, the fact that hardly anyone can relate to what is happening inside their minds, only exaserbates their situation. "FRUSTRATION" does not do the feeling justice. "HELPLESSNESS" and "HOPELESSNESS" are better descriptive words of how a person with MAJOR DEPRESSION feels.
As in my situation, add the fact that a person's family, the base of support in a mentally ill person's cache of recovery tools, often do not and will not attempt, to understand what the disease can and is doing to their loved one. The family can make the situation "all about themselves" and leave the mentally ill person "out in the cold", to fend for themselves. Too many times, this is similar to signing a "death warrant" for the mentally ill person. One of the strongest symptoms of MAJOR DEPRESSION, is the temptation to end one's life, and be rid of the demons in their minds.
Luckily, I read about my disease and was aware of this, or I would've been found with a bullet hole in my head, too. That doesn't mean the idea doesn't still cross my mind, I'm just aware of WHY I have those thoughts and that they are not MY thoughts, but those brought on by the disease.
If you look at people that do incredibly out of character deeds, in most cases, I think, you could trace their actions back to their mental health issues and lack of support and understanding.
Just like the athelete that is paralyzed, would struggle against all odds of never walking again, mentally ill people are faced with the daunting task of regaining their mental health, but odds are, there is no one there to "hold them up" while they struggle with what does work and what doesn't work. It's not as clear to the "outside world" exactly what the problem is. There is no plainly evident problem, like paralysis. Instead, mentally ill persons are often misconstrued as "bad people" and their actions are held to the same accountability as those without the maiming effects of mental illness, hardly a fair deal. Try making the paralyzed athelete race physically healthy opponents and see how fair that is. Am I starting to see a glimmer of clarity here?
FATHER'S DAY is near. Instead of hoping my 2 grown children will contact me, since they haven't made an effort in the past, since my breakdown, I have elected to not sit and wait for an email that is not coming. That only breeds more fodder for the MENTAL ILLNESS to feed upon. I've blocked emails from them. That clears my mind of thinking there is a chance I will hear from them. I have taken the initiative and removed the possibility for sure. Now, I can concentrate on the tasks at hand, my future, and improving my mental health.
There is plenty of new information about MENTAL ILLNESSES readily available by doing simple searches for MENTAL ILLNESS or MAJOR DEPRESSION. That's how I learned about my problems and what
Let's get CHARLEY in here!
For more than 25 years, CHARLEY DRUMM has been standing in front of people, playing his guitar, and singing the songs he loved to sing and the songs he wrote. His original songs are inspired by benchmarks in his life, loves and heartbreaks, friends and family, and a lifestyle that has taken Charley from rags to more rags. Now 50 something years old, Charley is undergoing a major lifestyle change, moving from married, family man to single, singer/songwriter, with a penchant for fishing.
Any performance of Charley's witnessed, leaves one with the definite feeling you have just been a part of something special. Coming straight from the heart, leaving nothing onstage but sweat and tears, Charley pours out his energy and love of entertaining to his audiences, baring his innerself through his songs and guitar strokes.
With a few exceptions, Charley has always been a solo act, completely comfortable being the focus of everyone's attention in any room he's played. The many years of solo work has lead to a unique guitar style, flashy, yet, filling any arena with the needed accompanying support for his smooth singing voice. Most arrangements by Charley, makes one look around for sidemen musicians, since it's difficult to believe all of that music and sound is coming from one man. The tag, MUSICIANS' MUSICIAN, is not handed out lightly by musicians, yet it has been used to describe our friend, CHARLEYROCKNROLL, more than once.
For a true ALIVE PERFORMANCE, do yourself a favor and catch Charley performing onstage. It's a delight to be a part of his evening of voice and guitar picking extraordinaire.
Want to have Charley play in your area? Charley is accepting booking invitations for September, 2007 RIGHT NOW! Ask your favorite venue for listening to good music to contact Charley @ charleydrumm@hotmail.com to set up a date for Charley to come play for you and share his love.
Your input is requested..
At last, I am nearing my "jumping off" spot for my "HITTIN' THE STREETS TOUR". I am looking for venues that would cater to what I do. I'd really like to keep the "quality level" ABOVE the DOGFIGHT range, if you get my drift..lol.
I am based in SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA, right on the Gulfcoast, but am not limiting myself to just this area.
"HAVE GUITAR, WILL TRAVEL", is my new motto. If you know of a venue that would possibly benefit in having someone of my caliber entertain there, please, feel free to turn me onto that info, or them to me. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Hurricane Katrina was bad for Southeast LA and Mississippi, and Alabama. We've been made very aware of the tragedy inflicted on the people living in those areas. Movies, documentaries, high level authorities made to resign due to mishandling situations, these things have been firmly embedded into our minds by the news media. Especially the people in New Orleans, chased to places like the Super Dome, by the tens of thousands and left standing there, screaming indignantly at news video cameras about how they were mistreated and there was no one there to help them.
Hurricane Rita came ashore less than a month later. I live in Hackberry, 12 miles from the beaches on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. In fact, my house is just yards from the ship channel leading to the Gulf. Hurricane Rita came through here like a mad woman going to.., well, you've heard that phrase. A storm surge wall of water, tall enough to immerse houses, pushed by 125 mph winds, strong enough to tear houses to pieces like a wrecking ball had had several swings at the buildings, battered the communities of this area. Complete houses washed away, found miles away, in the marshes. Holly Beach is 12 miles due South of me, was wiped completely off of the beach. There were 2 tall palm trees left standing at Holly Beach, I saw them myself, tough trees. Holly Beach settlement residents have seen hurricanes before. They knew what to do. I don't remember seeing anything about Holly Beach residents on the news, making disparaging remarks about the government not helping them. Cameron parish residents may be few, compared to the jammed in populations of New Orleans, but what Cameron parish residents have is common sense, the will to survive, and strong roots in an area deep in tradition.
As I watch Cameron parish drag itself out of the mud and hurricane debris, I feel a sense of pride knowing these folks are my neighbors. No whining and complaining heard here, just awe at the forces of Mother Nature and then "back at it", cleaning up and rebuilding, blaming no one, demanding nothing more than offered. It's this vision of the people of South Louisiana I'd rather have plastered all over television screens, than the ignorant people that preferred to ignore blatant warnings and orders to evacuate before Katrina.
Cameron parish resident,
# 1SONG IN BEAUMONT TEXAS~~~yeeehah!
Also, just wanted to let you know that your song
"Baby You're Bad For Me" is the number one song
on my station!!!! Lot's of new listeners since that article
in the paper.
Congratulations Charley!
Sheila
Sheila Cain owns and operates a one person internet radio station in Beaumont, Texas. Internet radio stations and the people that collect money for artists and their "royalty checks", have been involved in combat. Up until lately, there was no laws about internet radio playing music. I'd say the large majority of these stations are just like Sheila, people more interested in helping artists get their music heard, than making a buck off of the artists. While Sheila IS involved with promoting music artists and is VERY involved in the local music scene in Southeast Texas, I know she rarely covers expenses with what she charges to aid musical type folks.
The Beaumont Enterprise, local newspaper, contacted Sheila for her input on this ongoing "head to head" between the royalty folks and internet radio. When asked if Sheila had others, performers/ artists, that she thought would be willing to contribute to the artcile the B'mont Enterprise was going to print, Sheila gave them my name and number. I definitely gave the little girl reporter an ear full.
The "royalty folks" need to lighten up on internet radio, ESPECIALLY lighten up on people like Sheila Cain. If the "royalty folks" get their way, it would mean the end of B.L.I.R., BEAUMONT LIVE INTERNET RADIO, since Sheila never made enough money to buy beer and cigarettes, much less cough up 3 or 4 thousand dollars, right out front, and then pay out the nose every month after that.
Well, the reporter printed what I said, in a muchly condensed version..grin., but still got my point across. and then I get this email from Sheila today.
Sometimes, just when you are at your lowest...the sun shines..thank you , Sheila.
Charleyrocknroll, aka Charley Drumm
