Title: (NEW) - SAY YEAH (free D/L!) (X-MAS SPECIAL!!)
By trade, I am an electronics engineer and love to build robots and artbots in my spare time. Every year I show projects at Robogames and Maker Faire. This year the windharp won the gold medal in the musical artbots competition. I build all of my windharps and amplifiers for making the music. Editing and processing of files are all done on my desktop computer. Nothing artificial is added to the sounds. Just some minor filtering and editing of artifacts that may have been recorded. I also have songs running 24/7 at my internet radio station. Using SHOUTcast and Winamp to do the broadcasting. You can access my station at: http://windharp.webhop.net
The Making of Sirens of Taos: The windharp by itself makes great sounds from just the wind. External elements can be added by allowing physical coupling of the harp to objects that can make sound. I attached two 2 liter soda bottles to the frame. Each bottle has a vertical slit causing tones to be produced when the wind blows. The coupling to the frame allows those tones to be picked up by the strings and add to the composition. As you play Sirens of Taos, you will hear those tones in the background and you will be taken away to the visual image of a distant world.
My Windharp on Internet radio: My windharp can be heard on internet radio 24/7 at: windharp.webhop.net
I play live recordings of the harp on my station and update every few days. The recordings get better as I improve the recording technique. When planes and helicopters fly overhead, the strings resonate and make some interesting effects. Other effects can be caused by insects landing on the strings or birds pecking at them. The strings will also react to loud nearby noises, tree branches swaying against the structure, cats jumping on the roof, trains blowing the horn.

The electronics used to amplify the tiny signals from the pickups, are solar powered and have rechargeable batteries for backup power at night....
