Review of Ronnie Haig’s new Cd ALbum

This is a review written by Bernard Boyat for the Frenche magazine "LE CRI DU COYOTE" number 106.

RONNIE HAIG : JESUS MUSIC.

Cóté musical, donc, outre divers titres bien Country Bop "Walking With My Savior","Jesus Loves,The Common Man" et un rockabilly léger, "Come Sweet Jesus Come", qui clót lálbum. Ensuite,á chacun sa conscience. (BB)

To get the cd album..write Ronnie Haig.

For those who can read french they will love it.

A short translation here.

Bernard writes shortly some history of Ronnie Haig.
That He recorded a record for Note and also ABC Paramount released.
"Don't You Hear My Callin'Baby" this record had big succes although it brought not much money into the Artist pocket, many music fans are searchin' for that record.
There are several great cd albums out by Ronnie Haig for example "Still Kickin'Butt" at the Radio Active Gold record label, also a great cd album was released in the Netherlands at REDITA 147. More cd albums are on the GENTRÉ records label owner Ronnie Haig himself.
Bernard talks about songs He love from the "Jesus Music " cd, say "Walking With My Savior'" is a great country bop,as also "Jesus Loves' The Common Man". A more rockabilly song is "Come Sweet Jesus Come".
Bernard also wites about the fact that Ronnie Haig is a great singer, writer and mussician...love Ronnies difference styles.
So a must for every mussic lover.

This is a free translation of the article that Bernard Boyat wrote for a Frenche magazine", named "LE CRI DU COYOTE" number 106 this review is on page 26.

Bernard did a nice job.

"Jack Blanchard & Misty Morgan are writers/musicians/singers/producers
who have had a number of hits on Epic, Columbia, Mercury, UA, RCA, and other majors.
Their main airplay has been in the Country area, with crossovers to Pop,
but they are so different that nobody can figure out exactly what they are.
They write and produce their own recordings,
and are also Jazz musicians, as many Country artists have been.
Among their credits are: "Billboard Country Duet of the Year", and they are Grammy Nominees.
Their first hit was "Tennessee Birdwalk".
The Jack & Misty stage show consists mostly of original music, comedy, and audience rapport."

A part of the life of the great artist Miss Kitty Houston.

KITTY'S NOTES AND MEMORIES:
WHEN I KNEW "TWITTY"

DID I EVER TELL YOU HOW I KNOW CONWAY AND HIS FAMILY? HIS BAND BACKED ME WHEN I MADE MY FIRST RECORDING.

DURING THAT TIME I MET SAMMY SMITH, AS SHE WAS RECORDING ALSO, AND CONWAY'S BAND WAS BACKING HER. SHE WAS ON HER WAY TO NASHVILLE. AFTER A FEW YEARS SHE RECORDED HER BIG HIT "HELP ME MAKE IT THROUGH THE NIGHT".

I MET LEW HOUSTON, CONWAY'S STEEL GUITAR MAN, AND LATER WE WERE MARRIED. LEW HOUSTON PLAYED STEEL GUITAR FOR CONWAY ALL DURING THE LEAN YEARS OF CONWAY'S CAREER WHEN HE WAS TRANSFERRING FROM ROCK AND ROLL TO COUNTRY. CONWAY AND LORETTA LYNN STARTED SINGING DUETS, AND THEY WERE A GREAT DUO. THEY SANG DUETS AND "MADE MANY GREAT HITS" TOGETHER FOR MANY YEARS AND THEY WERE THE BEST OF FRIENDS.

I KNEW CONWAY AND FAMILY FROM 1964 ON. THE BAND MEMBERS FAMILIES DID THINGS TOGETHER AND TRAVELED TOGETHER, SOME. I STILL HAVE MY BOWLING SHIRT THAT SAYS "THE TWITTYBIRDS".

I REMEMBER A NEW YEARS EVE IN CHICAGO, WE HAD SOME FUN AFTER THE JOB, WHEN WE ALL WENT TO MANY MOVIES. CONWAY LOVED MOVIES, AS HE ALMOST NEVER GOT TO GO TO MOVIES IN PEACE, AS HE WAS EITHER WORKING OR THE FANS WOULD SPOT HIM AND HE COULD NOT JUST GO OUT WITH HIS WIFE MICKEY WITHOUT EXPECTING A CROWD WANTING AUTOGRAPHS.

I WAS SINGING ON MY OWN WITH MANY DIFFERENT BANDS WHEN I MET LEW HOUSTON, HE WAS WITH THE CONWAY TWITTY BAND CALLED "THE LONELY BLUE BOYS". I MET WANDA JACKSON, PRETTY MISS NORMA JEAN AND SO MANY OTHER STARS THROUGH KNOWING LEW.

CONWAY WENT ON TO NASHVILLE, MADE IT BIG, AND GOT A NEW SOUND. BIG JOE, HIS BASS PLAYER, FRONT-MAN AND LIFELONG FRIEND, WAS KILLED IN CAR WRECK IN NASHVILLE, CONWAY GOT A NEW BAND, EXCEPT FOR PORKCHOP, TOMMY MARKHAM, THE DRUMMER. HE THEN TOOK OFF WITH HIS NEW SOUND, HIS NEW BAND AND STARTED MAKING HISTORY WITH HIS BACK TO BACK #1 HIT RECORDINGS.

Memories of Ronnie Haig.
I was very impressed reading about "Chess" 2120 S.Michigan Av. Chicago Il.
I was fortunate to be able to record in that studio while under contract to "NOTE RECORDS" out of Indianapolis, Indiana. (1958-1961)

Jimmy Coe and his band played behind several recording artists. Wes Montgomery on guitar, Pookie Johnson tenor sax, Jimmy Coe alto sax,Wil Scott
on stand up bass, Henry Caine on the grande, and Earl "Fox" Walker on drums.

Oh, My name is Ronnie Haig. (I played my Gibson)

I had the pleasure of being the only white dude in the house sometimes. We cut my:"Don't you hear me calling baby" b/w "Traveler of Love" for "NOTE RECORDS" which wound up on ABC Paramount 6 weeks later on Feb 18th 1958. Midnight to 6 A.M. In that same time block I joined the band to back up "The Five Stars" on their recording of : "Pickin' on the wrong Chicken" b/w "Dreamin" All total I recorded at Chess on 17 different songs by folks like "Jerry Seifert" "The Students" and ofcourse My Stuff.
What can I say about that beautiful studio? I've never heard music played again like came out of those wonderful monitors. The baffles down along one wall, the live sound- the great echo sound you got there was just too much. I'll never forget the trip up those long, steep stairs. The engineer we always used was Jack Sheldon. An absolute master recording engineer. He also did Chuck Berry's stuff. A very demanding man, but we listened because he knew what he was talking about and didn't blow smoke. If he told you to stand in one particular place, you didn't ask "Why" Well you might.....once! I have NEVER been in another studio in my life that even came close to the Chess Studio. Everything went down at once, through a mixer board, and then into an Ampex tape deck by way of one single wire. No tracks! No Stereo! Just raw- Gut sound and lots of talent coming from behind that board. Jack was a true magician in that room.
Hats off to Willie for preserving it for today's crowd of curious onlookers from around the world. I've never been back, but would love to some day. Thanks for your time, and thanks for the memories.

Great cd by Ronnie Haig...a must for Gospel music lovers.

"Inspiring Moments"
For most of my life, I have consentrated on recording the music "I" wanted to hear. I guess I felt like it had to be "Rock & Roll" or it wouldn't be me.
Then one day I started thinking. It was God who gave me the talent in the first place. It was God who gave me the songs I write. Just maybe it was God, trying to speak through me, to those who don't know Him. So, I began to look at my Gospel songs in a different way. I have over 100 of them to date. All total, I have over 500 songs written, most being secular songs. I told myself that it was about time I did an album that I feel would be God's will, and quit hiding those songs in my closet, where they will do absolutely nothing. The lead off song, is one I wrote for "Elvis" over 30 years ago. Unfortunately he passed before I could get it to him. It's called: "Keep your eyes on the horizon, not the waves" Each song on this CD contains a message I feel God wants me to take to the people "out there" who need Him, and who need to hear his story. So,my prayer is, that the messages will be heard. That they will make a difference in someone's life. They certainly have mine. I feel it's the least that I can do when I think of all that God has done for me. Please listen to the lyrics. Remember! It's the message that counts. PASS IT ON!
Please feel free to write me anytime you like at backporchpicker@AOL.COM. Thank you for your support.
Your friend in Christ

Fantastic Cd Album By two fantastic Artist!
AVAILABLE NOW!
I consider it a privelidge to be sharing the same CD with Kitty. Her late husband "Lew Houston" was the steel guitar player for Conway Twitty for several years, and Kitty was one of Conway's back-up singers. This gal can really belt out a song, for sure! She invited me to do this project with her, and I'm glad she did. A good Christian lady, and a real friend. Kitty and I are splitting up a 22 song CD of both Country, Country Rock, and Gospel music. If you are interested PLEASE get in touch with either Kitty or myself for your autographed copy. I personally guarantee you will NOT be sorry you did. E-Mail us and get ordering instructions -just in time for Christmas too! Don't miss out on this one! Good Stuff! from good People! hahahaha! THANX!
