Dream Theater - Score
Thats a great band, why did I discover it so late ? Regard the first 2 songs as "warmup", then starting with the 3rd song "Another won" and "Afterlife", "Under a glass moon", etc ... the band shows a brilliant performance. Amazingly how error free they play this complex stuff on stage. I recommend this to everybody. its simply great. And all these guys are really great musicians !

The Dave Weckl Band - Rhythm of the Soul ('97), R&B/Blues/Funk +++++
I'm very satisfied with this record. Jay Oliver (keyb) and Dave Weckl (dr) arranged nearly all songs very nice. The well known Buzz Feiten (you know his tuning system for guitars ?) , Frank Gambale (also guit) and others are playing very nice tunes.
On the 1st song you hear awesome guitar soli's, incredible scales/tunes, Have much fun listening. On the second song very nice breaks by Dave Weckl. On third song the bass man Tom Kennedy plays an acoustic bass, also nicely arranged. To the rest I'm just listening and I'm pretty sure it will also be great otherwise I'll delete this entry lol

Shania Twain - üP! Live in Chicago (2003), DVD - Country Rock fusion
Its for moms, dads, daughters, families, sons will definitively remember the yellow T-Shirt ;-)) Now to the musical qualities ...
You'll hear a splendido "Rock/Country Fusion" evening with a show that comes from heart and a band that surprises you on a wide range. You see posing action of violin players in kind of Robin Hood alike leather clothes .. The guitarist seems to earn a lot of money, he can effort a new guitar for every song ;-)) And I'm sure he was well equipped for some extra tracks at the end :-)) Well listening to this DVD creates a good mood. Very enjoyable if you are on travel, have perhaps a small hotel room, whatever ... Then this is exactly the kind of DVD that makes you forget the little oddities of life ;-)
I definitively recommend this DVD ... very good musicians, a very good performance !! And Shania Twain has a really nice voice. Enjoy it.

Steve Lukather & Los Lobotomys -
Steve became world famous with Toto. And that's another master piece. Recorded life in German TV show. Wait a little, after the 1st song the band shines ...
Can blindly recommend this to any rock music lover.

Chick Corea Elektric Band - Live at Montreaux (2004), DVD - Jazz Rock
Very good musicians indeed. But can be stressfull to listen to. But there is a trick, start with the last one, then you might forgive the band the complex harmonies at the beginning ;-)
If you are married, listening to it is a good chance having to sleep outside for a night :-P

Lenny Kravitz - Live (2002), DVD - Lenny pure, very nice and straight
I discovered Lenny for myself relatively late. I heard he is a big fan of analog recording gear. Yeah, like it myself as well ;-)
Between the songs snipplets out of his musical and privat life. Put it all together ... cool band, nice songs, very sympathic musicians.
I can recommend this DVD, like it very much.
Got it for a "nice price". Already feared it might be a cheap production, but no fear, its a good DVD.

King Crimson - Larks' Tongues in Aspik (1773), So you think you know
.. whats heavy ? Really sweat and soft but becomes brutally heavy ? Ha ha, I think you don't know ... King Crimson made some awesome pieces in Rock music. Robert Fripp should be known to guitarists. He's incredible. Bill Bruford on drums was always exciting for me.
WARNING: the songs start sometimes very sensitive, and after a while a tornado might kill your boxes, neighbors and enemies 2 km around you ... So be careful .. not every song is as harmless as it starts. I NEVER heard such brutal harmonies covered into sweet candy. Believe me ! And enjoy.

Larry Carlton Steve Lukather Band - The Paris Concert (2001), DVD
Two awesome guitarists. Who doesn't know them. Its awesome how these 2 top musicians play together. Larry Carlton definitively coming more from the Smooth Jazz corner and Steve who is more a rocker. And you will be amazed by Larry who seems to know every dirty little trick on a Guitar ;-) Larry Carlton really shines on stage !
This DVD is a must for every guitarist.
WARNING: After listening to this DVD stay away from axes, keep your arms in good shape ;-) And don't sell your precious guitar on eBay lol

Candy Dulfer - Live in Amsterdam (2001), DVD. Very Cool Funk Music !!
This is a really awesome DVD. Very much better than her "Live in Montreaux" DVD. Here the atmosphere is much better and every title really shines. Nice "adult" re-arrangement of her songs which are sometimes tad a bit hectic in the older studio version.
I can recommend this DVD to everybody who likes funk music and nicely arranged sax solos. Special guests here are i.e.: Dave Stuart with 2 nice songs, Candy's father who also plays sax (very nice duett) and a singer which I can't remember by name.
Buy it, you will not be disappointed !

Dean Brown - Here - (2000) - you'll miss it even if you don't know it
This is a very special CD, the best of Dean Brown IMHO. Dean plays with 25 other musicians, so expect a nice groovy funk/jazz mix. There are 14 songs on the CD, so its really worth the money. Here some of the "well knowns": Michael & Randy Brecker, Billy Cobham, George Duke, Marcus Miller, David Sandborn, and many other.
I like it very much. Maybe simply give it a try ? ;-)

Jeff Beck - Blow by Blow, incredible Les Paul sound
I bought this one very very late in 2006 after listening to "Cause we've ended as lovers" on an audio stream. It an early Jeff Beck, using not so many effects. Here I would guess he has plugged in his Les Paul straight into a Marshall and you will experience THE TONE. I really love it. This is a tone I would expect from my amp. But unfortunately I don't get it this way (yet) ;-)

Al diMeola - Nice entry to Jazz Rock and Fusion
If I remember right this was my 1st Jazzrock LP which I bought in the 80's. I heard the song "Flight over Rio" and "Race with devil on Spanish Highway" in a local pub where we used to meet friends. I was excited about this music and bought several LPs of Al. But none of the following one were so brilliant like this one IMHO. Also the acoustics are very nicely played. Later I found Al playing in "Return to Forever" with Chick Corea. I was always fascinated about the scales and the preciseness and ease of playing them. If you don't know it already, give it a try, its worth it. Bits///
