I'm a heavy rhythmic influenced person that get his inspiration from his surroundings, There's always a musical influence around whether it's a ticking clock or water dripping from a faucet, there's always a rhythm. The other influence come from listening to 70's disco which in my eyes came from wanting to be like Tony Manaro in Saturday Night Fever. Also Growing up in a Spanish household I heard a lot of Salsa and Merengue which drives the poly rhythmic portion of me. I grew up in the Bronx where I was constantly hearing Hip-Hop, Reggae, & R&B from the boom-boxes in the neighborhood. I went to a Catholic private school which was predominately Caucasian which I listened to Rock & Roll and it wasn't the soft but the hard stuff like Kiss. To this day I can still play over and over Kiss's "Rock & Roll (All Nite Long)" and not get tired of it. Where I was raised at my babysitters house I constantly heard Soul & early R&B like The Temptations, Gladys Knight & the Pips, etc. But I also listened to Pop like Elton John. So I'm not closed minded to music.
Fast forward to 1986, I enter college and get introduced to DJing. I purchase some cheap Technic Belt drive turntables and start to DJ, I started out with Freestyle and House. Later I upgraded to the 1200's, but with friend that were in the DJ circle always said how is it that you can mix Freestyle so well especially with the equipment that I had.... From that point I was driven. Now I make tracks on my Computer & Hardware.
