I don't think putting the vote into the listeners will be a wise descision - soundclick staff should base thier critiques on thier own, and not have any outside influences. Because myself, and many other artists around without a huge fan base, but have worthy material won't be able to pursuade people like others (with millions of song plays..) Nothing against thier skill, but this way is more 'rigging' the final judgement (to the person who can get the most people to vote for them..)

I also agree with osmancigil's post, I'm into hip-hop, but it would be somewhat refreshing to see a pop/rock/alternative/dance/country song chart well.. Would make others feel more thought of, as this site has seemed to have morphed into a hip hop site... All I can see out of this is nothing but a spamming fest soon to come once people realized that thier posts will count to the final judgement...

I'm Voting for "Marnie - S-O-U-N-D-C-L-I-C-K (Dotcom)"

song is great, you can definately relate to it. the hook is very catchy and also neatly done. it spells out soundclick.com. also the singer has a very nice voice. ne ways, thats my vote and thats what im sticking with, i honestly think this song is better then most of the songs that were uploaded into to the contest.

also, happy 10 years soundclick haha.

And an advance thanks to everyone for listening to my song - 'On Soundclick.com'.

Agree with some of the other posts....obviously a hip-hop song is likely to win, judging from the list your staff made...kind of defeats the entire contest. And let me add that telling us all in advance that the staff's choices will be through to the next round is not in the spirit of the thing...puts a damper on the whole show for some of us.

Still, if I gotta pick one, I'd choose

I've listened to at least a little bit of every song that made it to round 2 and I think they are all excellent. It honestly doesn't matter what genre the music is... music is music, and I've got nothing but respect for all of my fellow musicians. Don't get me wrong, winning would be fantastic, heck... to me, getting a free account for 10 years would be incredible, but it's not about winning, it's about celebrating SoundClicks 10th anniversary and the fantastic artists that made it happen. I've met some truly amazing artists and made some great friends here on SoundClick and I hope to make many more. Here's to SoundClick and another 10 years... if I had to cast a vote, it would be for everyone !!!

Wow, I just seen those posts about Randumb and looked for his song. It's really amazing, and the end singing is very good. Why's it so far down from the top? I don't see what the others have that he doesn't, but I can see what he has that others don't. Great rhythm and amazing word structure. I doubt he's going to even make it in the top ten though because he's so far down. How do you vote for songs??

I've listened to literally every song on here since the contest began. I'm very impressed with all of the entrants. Some are very under developed though... I don't know how they made it this far. Anyway, I figured I'd vote for my favorite, it's "Randumb - SoundClick 10th Anniversary". One negative thing about it though, it is very short. Either way, Randumb is a very talented rapper, and if I could choose the winner, i would definitely choose him. I wish he would've made a longer track though. sad :(

yeah, it is hard to compete between genres, this is a cool idea in general, but maybe an idea for future would be to have a few different winners representing different genres. Still nice to be involved (with Grand Jury) it's a cool way to tribute this great site...

My song 'On Soundclick.com' is in the Acoustic category (and sub category : Acoustic Guitar). There are hardly any songs from there.

So, I hope you all will make a balanced judgement and won't have any favourisms just because of a specific genre.

'On Soundclick.com' is essentially a song describing how Soundclick.com is helping me to get to my girl... Hence it can be seen what importance Soundclick has in my life and its all about this great free music sharing website.

Thanks and good luck to all !

It doesn't matter who gets the GRAND PRIZE but for best of 10 you have to at least choose one song in each gender. I mean like choose one from hip hop, rock, country, classical, acoustic, reggae... etc. Don't concentrate only in one gender because different people have different style of music and we should appreciate them all.

Anyway, I vote for the accapella R&B groove of MUZIKERO MUZIKERA "Happy 10th year anniversary Soundclick. I can see the effort they made and it only proves that musicians can collaborates and create music together even in different part of the world by uploading and downloading voices thru SOUNDCLICK then mix it together as members of MUZIKERO MUZIKERA CLAN very well did.

Thanks!

happy 10th once again. congradulations to those who moved on to round 3. seeing that this contest believes more on popularity & copyright infingement over actual insperation to create true compositions on music. i am one of a few and a few of more to come, in resigning my time and money with this site. again congradulations to those who are actualy in true compositions. takes true ambition & creativity to do so.

to soundclick: thanks and no thanks for my time wasted here. good luck on your next 10! i'm taking my business as well as sounds to beta records. you have been a decent enough site for free hosting for artists. unfortunaty being a true composer, this site will not get me to the next level that i am looking for. again good luck to all and good by to soundclick.

First off I think that ICBeats track, They jam my soundclick" is HOTT you can't deny it for real. From the production to the lyrics. You can tell they put in work on that track. I have been following these cats for a minute, and they do they thang........

I liked a lot of songs on here. Some with good concepts. But ICbeats touched me deep on this one. To find a family on here and become successful. Unity and love is all in that song. I felt that and I feel a lot of artist, people in general should be like that. You dont see that everyday. Dont get me wrong, they have good people on here, but this was real different and also funny, and had a good positive message, I love the vocal hamonizations, that was crazy.

I dont see anybody else that deserves a break more than these cats. If I could vote for it 1000x I would just to see them make.

Speaking of which, there is a LOT of new profiles all of a sudden voting for people,*COUGH* which I think is unfair. Cant get signed like that....

Wow, there's hardly any genre in the contest besides Hip-Hop. That really sucks. I figure I'll cast my vote though, I'm picking Randumb because he isn't doing the same old thing. His style is unique, unlike the most popular track by IC Beats, who mimic the mainstream Hip-Hop scene to a T. But, anyway, I hardly ever listen to rap, unless my friends are playing it, or its on somewhere in a bar, but if I had a choice of whose rap song to listen to, i would without a doubt pick Randumb.

I'd have to say my vote goes to:
CaSper101 - Dear Soundclick

^like others said, the metaphorical approach he took by calling soundclick his 'girl', and saying her type of behavior and what not. Just put his song a step or two ahead of the competition in my opinion. Also, he has more than one "tempo" or whatever with his 'remix' idea, you're always interested in any point of the song.

Vote: CaSper 101 - Dear Soundclick

The play list is loosely ranked, so that the position there won't necessarily determine the actual rank or popularity.

What we would like to get is your feedback, so please tell us why you like your favorite song on that list. While we appreciate all feedback, we find comments from users who have been with SoundClick a long time, or who have been active in the SoundClick community before the most valuable.

Having said that, the final decisions about who goes to the next round lies with the SoundClick staff.

Also, we truely feel that this contest is not about winning the big prize, but it's more a celebration of the SoundClick community as a whole. It's a big thank-you to all the wonderful artists who make SoundClick possible, and a big thank-you to the users as well!!

Shoot, this is not Survivor, people! It's a celebration of the music. I personally like osmancigil's song and Project 43's. They are both good representations of the spirit of rock, something which is sort of dwindling against all the hip hop.

The way I usually get little plays and the different way I chose showed my appreciation through my lyrics I didn't think I would make it in the 3rd round. I seem to have the only urban song on there. Many of the songs are nice like Ice Cold Beats "Jam My Soundclick". Platinum Vocals, song stands out as well. Still not totally sure who I think should win. As long as it sounds good and is creative to me, that's what I think. I've collaborated with some of the artist still in the contest and hope to still have fun making music on my own and with other soundclick artists. I did my songs because I wanted to show some love to soundclick and thank them for makings a great site. Thanks soundclick.

I just seen the post by daladieschoice ,i disagree, why you gonna hate on this man saying he is tryin to "mimic" main stream. This is what this man made, that was his vocals, and the other guy reddzone, I know from my experiance in produceing that this took time and effort. Why would some one do this and not be them selves? I never heard this cat before untill I ran across this song in the charts and by far this is a dominant track. I listened to all icbeats other tracks and they all was jamming just like this track here, So before you go saying that icbeats is all popular and they trying to mimic mainstream, some people were born to make good music and you cannot find that everyday. Im not knocking anyone but it is the truth. I think soundclick has got a track that will far out exceed this contest. I can see commercials and advertisment with this song.

VOTES FROM LISTENERS ARE NOT SUPPOSEDLY THE CRITERIA IN JUDGING COZ IF THIS IS THE WAY TO WIN I WOULD RATHER SIGN UP HUNDREDS OF ACCOUNTS IN SOUNDCLICK JUST TO VOTE FOR MY OWN ENTRY (JUST LIKE WHAT RANDUMB DID)...LOL! WHICH I THINK IS A MESS. ANYWAY, IM A MUSIC TEACHER AND I TEACH MUSIC BY NOTES AND AS FAR AS I KNOW, MUSIC HAS TO HAVE A MELODY ON IT'S LYRICS TO BE WRITTEN BY NOTES. DOES ANYBODY CAN TEACH ME HOW TO WRITE A HIP HOP / RAP IN NOTES? LOL!

ONE MORE THING... I HOPE THE JUDGES WILL REALIZE THE TRUE MEANING OF MUSIC... WELL, I VOTE HOT FOR THOSE WHO WROTE A REAL MUSIC (WITH A MUSIC MELODY) AND I VOTE FLOP TO THOSE WHO JUST WROTE A LYRICS AND SIMPLY POEMED IT WITH A BEAT. I THANK YOU SOUNDCLICK AND MORE POWER.

for ten years, soundclick has been giving artists(struggling)a much needed chance to practice their craft,be heard, and get feedback (and criticism.)for my money, the song that best represents soundclicks mission is soundclick pimpin by bishopdaboss. coulple that with a sick beat, some old school beatboxin, and a genuine passion in the delivery(u can almost feel the struggle of workin on ur music while workin on ur life)makes this song a standout in saying what soundclick has meant to thousands.

They're are so many songs and artists out there but I think today its hard to find true talent and creativity. So many times we just settle for your everyday streamline sound. Music used to have a message and a purpose. Luckly they're are some artists on soundclick that still have that vision. Nemesis-Props Up Sound Click is so creative and his words have a message. His uniqueness and creativity always hooks you, thats why I think he should win!!
:: posted by jbe07 on Mon Sep 3, 2007 @ 12:29 AM
On Nemesis, regardless of what song, your always pulled in with the beat, his lyrics, and the message. When someone has something to rap or sing about it always comes across strong. You can feel the artist and what he's portraying when the artist really means it. Today there are so many artists that dont have a message. They stick to the stereotypes, rap (drug, sex & weed), rock (sex, drugs, rock'n'roll), etc. With Nemesis its really real, you can hear it in his lyrics and all the artists featured on other songs. Nemesis I feel should win because he has something to sing about and thats hard to find. -Bambino

What a divisive idea this was.....as I said above, you are defeating the entire object which was to celebrate SoundClick, supposedly a gigantic family of musicians, and all you have done is set each artist against the other by this ludicrous thread. Naturally, each thinks their "song" should win so why ask for our views? And like all votes of this kind....and SoundClick's rating system as a whole, it is open to massive abuse....the fact that SoundClick staff are choosing the top ten (where there is a cash prize for winner, let us not forget) and the SC staff obviously are biased towards hip-hop, should have been made clear from the start ....and then our (those of us whose music falls outside of that category) level of expectation would have been drastically reduced.

You say above that though you want our views, it will not make a difference to the fact that SC staff are choosing....so why ask? It shows a degree of naivety that defies belief.

Well, we didn't manage to get a song together in time but I'm interested in hearing those who did. Especially to hear what rhymes with 'SoundClick'! A tough one, that. Anyways, finally had a chance to listen to bits of 'round 3' and well done to all as the standard is pretty high - a lot of professional sounding stuff there. Tough to give specific shout outs but, as I'm primarily a 'rock' fan, I'd like to hear more of Merwolf (I think that's right!) as it's so bloody catchy and jumps out straight away. I've got the chorus stuck in my head now, though. Nurse!

Its very exiting to be in this contest. I check in every day to see how things are going.

To all of those being negative about the hole thing.... Has it not been fun wrighting and recording your song? The alternative to this is nothing. Please be glad that you are in this contest. Please be thankfull that you got this oppertunity for being part of something bigger than yourself.

Why do we always have this ability to see everything in a negative light and look for all the thing that are unfair and wrong instead of looking at all the things that are great and fantastic!

From my point of view, only good things come of this competition. A 1000 USD or VIP or just promotion for my band. This is a celebration of music and SC, be a part of it instead of being negativebig grin :D

Good Vibes to all!!!

Dawnsinclair's post is plain wrong. We certainly don't have any bias towards any genre. See our other post above.
It puzzles us how you can post with such a negativity, while your song is still officially in the running of a contest celebrating just this open artist community.

Anyway, a big thank-you goes to all those who keep it positive and give some valuable feeback! smile :)
:: posted by SoundClick Staff on Mon Sep 3, 2007 @ 09:38 AM
I agree with the SoundClick staff, I've read a bunch of these posts, and seen many times people wondering why there's so much hip-hop in the contest. They aren't part of this genre so they blame it on bias, the fact is, the minority of entrants came from other genres, from round 1 there were hip-hop songs that out numbered other genres at least 3 to 1. So, obviously since there was such a low number of other genres compared to the hip-hop entrants its going to stay that way, at least until the last round.

Oh, before I forget, don't get angry about the genres either, and belittle ones music. I've seen posts from people saying negative things about hip-hop, things implying that it takes no talent, and shouldn't be considered music. Keep those opinions off the board.

peace, 1.

sigh...read what u want to in the post, by all means. I didn't say there is anything wrong in the rules or the fact that you are biased...everyone is biased towards what they like, it's human nature...I said why make this thread at all? You made it clear that it's gonna be the staff who decides and also by telling us that the staff chose the ones at the top of the list...which are almost exclusively hip-hop...how the vote is likely to go....but u see negativity in my pointing this out? Of course, put me in the wrong for pointing out the obvious. And apparently my feedback is not valuable...cheers for that SOUNDCLICK.

I dunno what you guys do to promote your music

But if you're an artist trying to get somewhere.. I would think you'd promote your Soundclick page and have people come to the site and vote who like your music.... Would only make sense, since that's what Soundclick requested lol

All the complaining you all are doing shows a lack of confidence in your music IMO.

I get people to listen to my music all the time from diff sites, forums, and of course friends... and I otld them to come show some love and supoort my music if they could

... see I got some votes from others as well, which is much appreciated b/c I feel my song is a great song for this site, explaining a lot about its past, pressent, & future if you listen

I'm sure the Soundclick people can see the IP of all the people making comments............and if there's fakes, they wont' count and probably just annoy the judges who have to take the time to look at them

Falllllll back! Let SC do their thing
:: posted by CarolinaKyd on Mon Sep 3, 2007 @ 10:49 AM
Um, dawnsinclair, just for the hell of it, I approached this whole situation mathematically. You claim that it is in our nature to have biases, true, but in the case of the SoundClick staff, they are being anything BUT biased.

Look at the data I collected, altogether there are 92 songs in the Hip-Hop genre, and 65 in other (Rock, Pop, Electronica, Alternative, etc.)
This is a ratio of 1.4 to 1. So it's 1.4 Hip-Hop for every 1 other. In the top ten Hip-Hop out numbered other 6 to 4, which is a ratio of 1.5 to 1.

So, you see, with the data collected you could not get any closer to the big picture (whole list), by comparing it to the small picture (top ten) if you tried. So what? The SoundClick staff shows a bias of 0.1% towards Hip-Hop? How idiotic does that sound. It's not the human nature of bias that's at work here, it's the tendency humans have toward blaming others about dumb sh***, without first looking at the facts.

Like everyone here, I would like to proudly say that my song is the best selection amongst the rest because it has this and that. What I think about my song is self-explanatory in how you feel when you listen to it. It's simply structured, but it makes a point. However, I do agree with the Soundclick Staff that what the whole community of artists should be celebrating more instead of competing for an ultimate prize. More important than the contest, it's a celebration.

Gotta give a vote to "GN-Rahul" and his sadly humorous "On Soundclick.com." It's lo-fi in a good way, which I think adds to the melancholy feel, but there's also an early "They Might Be Giants" vibe which is very appealing. Cool beans!

There are a lot of great songs here. Count me in as a vote for "GN-Rahul" and his "On Soundclick.com." It's one of his first attempts at an original song and while it displays many mistakes first time songwriters (usually) grow through and out of, it more than makes up for it by having an incredible amount of heart and sincerity.

Best of luck to everyone, though. As mentioned, there is a lot of good material here and it's good to be able to hear so many gifted writers and performers.

Whasup yall?
I listened to all of the artist in the competition and it's obvious that there is only "ONE TRUE WINNER, VICKIE MCKISIC." Not only does she have a beautiful voice, the track is tight, and the lyrics capture the very essence of SoundClick! Holla!

I loved Sacrafyc's song. But some listeners are right. It is best if it is picked by the staff so its fair. not a popularity contest based on who has more friends voting for them!

I liked all the songs very much, but I think I have to go with "A great Place to be.(Soundclick)" by Procks. His songs are well written both lyrically and musically, and he is sincere in what he does. You can tell he's not in this for the money, he does it because he enjoys it, and to quote one of my biggest influences... it's o.k to get rich making music, but you should also enjoy making the music. If you are making music only to get rich, then you are in it for all the wrong reasons.

What? No BPS in 3rd Round? I'll admit there are some good songs going to round 3 but there are a great deal of tracks that are horrible! This track is one of them: (CC RECORDS ON SOUNDCLICK 2007 C&S REMIX ) that is garbage..... but anyways much luck to the music.... and please if you could, give back some criticism on my track to see what wasnt tight on it.... thanks......

i listened to most of them (one by one down the line) and all i have to say is that if "blze- soundclick your life" doesn't win, then i'd be utterly suprised (unless it;s a song that i havent heard, but most of them weren't impressive)

my vote's that 'blze' guy

I had to edit my earlier post about my vote. I put the wrong group. I meant to vote for icbeats, but I had said Carolinakyd. Icbeats got the hottest hip hop song in the contest, and I say that despite the fact that I have a hip hop song in the contest. I still got much love for carolinakyd's song, but icbeats should win this.

But hey....

Vote for me too......lol

A - B - C Ya!!!
