Mellotron. The Blissful instrument:
The Kinks’ Mellotron® pictured with the M-Tron at Abbey Road Studios
From King Crimson to Elton John, this instrument was used heavily in the late Sixties and early 70's by a squadron of Rock and Prog bands. Known for its blissful, almost spiritual sound. Originating from it's predecessor, the Chamberlain, it evolved into a mainstay of rock music. However, it had many moving analog parts that were always causing problems, especially when it was part of a tour. Thanks to the digital age, this instrument is now virtual.

Hi Carlo! Andrew Arrington and I have uploaded a collaborative album compiling 16 tracks of our smooth ambient, chilled psychedelia, and mellow electronic styles with guests Aloka, Jeremy Troyer, Ginger Sparklezzz, and Katherine Scorzo. It can be found on my page. If you come around to listen, thanks for your time! We know it's valuable.

Hiya, yeah the one thing I'd like to do for the old piano is to record it. Once I've got my studio sorted out it will be my next job - it currently needs tuning again, modern centrally heated households are not ideal for old pianos! It has always creaked a lot when played, lol, but I guess so would I if I'd been through the same things! I've been told that a lot of that can be cured. I will get them to have a look at the internals and see what needs fixing. Not sure about fixing the external body - it is part of it's character, so haven't made up my mind about its facelift yet, lol.

[last edited on Thu May 16, 2013 @ 12:45 AM] Hi Carlo, just been listening to your new song, Pictures in My Minds Eye. Love it ! left you a comment.
Talking of new songs; have you checked out Beard Fish. Yes I know . . . another Swedish Prog rock band ! Is it something in the water in Sweden ? there seems to be so much Prog rock talent there. Check 'em out on Youtube, I think you may like them. I notice he's playing a couple of those fab red Nord keyboards. I want one Santa please lol

Carlo yup.. just googled it....I ordered hypoallergenic Clarity supersensitive for my sensitive hands...OMG thats what it is ....I have all the earmarks of violin rosin allergies...SO it has been remedied....I will stop using the rosin I first ordered for the new rosin......Im just wondering if I can get the old residual dust off the bows and the strings of the psaltery.....I called Lark in the Morning where I buy most of my instruments...He gave me some links .....It was hard to pin point cause from the Vertigo I have a pinched nerve in both shoulders from not being able to sleep on my right side and favoring my left side......One thing I do feel is my hands are pin pricky feeling after I play with the instrument and rosin the bow......PLus I keep sneezing when I get around the rosin bar that I was given with the psaltery...All in all though Im enjoying messing around with the psaltery...It has a wierd and ethereal sound at the same time..But will stop till I get the new rosin..~Kath
