Mellotron. The Blissful instrument: The Kinks’ Mellotron® pictured with the M-Tron at Abbey Road Studios
From King Crimson to Elton John, this instrument was used heavily in the late Sixties and early 70's by a squadron of Rock and Prog bands. Known for its blissful, almost spiritual sound. Originating from it's predecessor, the Chamberlain, it evolved into a mainstay of rock music. However, it had many moving analog parts that were always causing problems, especially when it was part of a tour. Thanks to the digital age, this instrument is now virtual.

Thanks a lot Bra, esp. for "Once upon a Time" in the past too !
Yes your right. The new one sounds a bit like 80's, I played the refrain-chords on keys for years casually, and one day I thought: you must make a song out of it, just to get it out of the brain.
Have a nice WE Carlo

Hey Carlo, I've just been digging, 'World Of Triangles' ...your Clicker's Club psychedelic music challenge song. I've left you a comment. Also sending a big thankyou to you for the very nice comments you left about the two Pink Floyd songs that I...under disguise as 'The Lykes Of Wytch', recorded for the same challenge. I really appreciate your encouragement and support. Cheers.
David smile :)

No thanks needed, Carlo. You're very welcome.

Sorry that I didn't join the latest Challenge. I had some internet- and computer problems. They suddenly stopped the internet connection. It was an old contract (10 years old) and they decided to get rid of it. That would have been OK for me if they had warned clearly some time before the end, so that we could arrange something.

Of course we went to another provider after this and that took some time. Almost a month without internet in these modern times!

Second thing was that my computer didn't want to start. The only solution was to delete the content of the hard disc and install everything back. Everything was back upped except my latest creation. Right now I'm trying to rebuild that one, but it will never be exactly the same of course.

Right now it's all working. Hope I will be there at the next Challenge.

Wishing you a great rest of the week,

The only thing besides by 1974 '55 LP Special reissue that is classic (I guess it's approaching classic status at 43 years old) is me :-( Thank you Carlo for the cool comments.

Hi Carlo, so very sorry that I've not visited for what seems like an eon. I've quickly got used to being retired. Wow, I've so many things that I want to do, both musically and with my other interests. I've re-started cycling again. Lots of walking. My wife retired a couple of months prior to me, so we can both enjoy the same freedoms. Last September we had a great short holiday in Stockholm.(10 days). followed by a week in Prague. I've enjoyed recording two tunes for the Clicker's Club psychedelic music challenge. The day after the challenge we fly off to Barcelona for a week. I could get used to this you know!
The Mellotron app. continues to amaze and delight me. It's used and sometimes featured in most of my recent recordings. Guitar wise, I've been using my Yamaha Pacifica 612V quite a lot and playing the Rickenbacker 4003 through a Line 6 Bass Pod XT. The Bass Pod XT
