Old Dawgs - New Tricks is Phil Rogers, Roy Holmberg and Rick Robinson. Phil and Rick have been buddies since Junior High (that's a long time...), growing up within a couple blocks of each other.

During high school, they played in bands with high school acquaintances and friends at school dances, private parties and wedding receptions anytime they could find a paying crowd. A couple of times during high school, the band played private parties for a gallon of Southern Comfort. Most of the time though, they jammed in garages and basements like millions of other kids.

During the seventies and into the mid eighties, Phil and Rick played various projects together and separately in bars, bowling alleys, private clubs, parties and wedding receptions. For a couple of years, Rick played honky tonk piano in the local VFW. From back alley dives to concert halls, Phil and Rick played them all.

Roy Holmberg is the newest addition to the Old Dawg line up. Roy began by playing bass through his amp with Jimi Hendrix coming through his headphones when he was 12. He played bass in classic rock and country bands in the 80's and did studio work to keep himself busy. Besides the bass, he plays acoustic and electric guitar. Much of the time since then Rick, Roy and Phil put their music on the back burner to pursue careers and raising their families.

"We find ourselves being drawn back to playing music for music's sake. We still are some kids jamming in the basement."

Hey,

I wanted to let you know that I just posted a new song that I think you will enjoy.
Not really very new though. It was written in 1847. LOL

It's an old Christmas standard.
O Holy Night (Cantique de Noel)

Or just click the pic. wink ;)

I hope I did the song justice. wink ;)

I'd appreciate it if you could give it a spin when you get a chance and let me know what you think.

Thanks for your support. smile :)

Hey,

How's it going? I've been pretty busy myself.

I wanted to let you know that I uploaded a new song called:
"Without You (Ballad of Dona)"
It's actually a previously unpublished song written by my brother Paul back in the 80's. Don't let the title fool you. It's not your everyday ballad. wink ;)
I'd appreciate it if you could take it for a spin when you get a chance and let me know what you think.

I also have given "Slay the Dragon" a complete re-mix. If you liked it before I think you'll really like it now. Turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. I'd appreciate any feedback you can offer.

All of my songs have been recently re-mastered for more dynamic range and a less fatiguing sound. Hopefully this will result in a more pleasant listening experience for all.

More songs coming soon! smile :)
Thank you for your support.

Hey,

I just uploaded a brand new song called Saturday Night. This one is something a little different from me. No smoking guitar solo but plenty of other goodies. I think it turned out pretty good. smile :) I'd appreciate it if you would give it a spin when you get a chance and let me know what you think.

Hey,

I just uploaded a new and shiny Blues tune called "Seven Hundred Miles From Nowhere" featuring Jolee on the vocals. I think you're going to like it. Like I said, very new and shiny. smile :)

It is the result of several weeks of collaboration between Jolee and myself. It was her first slow blues song and my first collab so it was quite a challenge for both of us.

If you get a chance swing by, give it a spin and let me know what you think. smile :)
