Patrick Lew (Official SC)'s SoundClick blog - The iPod has changed the way we listen to our music.
The iPod has changed the way we listen to our music.
Can't believe the very first iPod came out 11 years ago. I remember it being very expensive and less accessible when it first came out in stores. From 7th grade and throughout high school, I listened to music on those really chunky portable CD players. Those were a pain in the butt, they broke on me about a number of times, and I had to replace each and every one painfully buying a new one each time it broke at Target. The iPod changed the way we listened to music. So instead of having to carry a huge wallet of CD's that could get stolen or lost easily in your backpack, we had this portable mp3 player we upload our mp3's onto and listen to it comfortably while outside or inside. I remember my friend had an mp3 player back in freshmen year of high school (Fall 2000) and it was only 256MB and could fit less than two album's worth of songs. I got my first iPod in the summer of 2006 at Best Buy, but though I use Sansa mp3 players now. The impact of having an iPod for the first time never left me. I went from listening to clunky portable CD players and carrying it uncomfortably when hanging out, listening to a crappy 512MB mp3 player I got at a pawnshop in Taiwan, to having something that fits all the music I need to listen to all day everyday.
