Amateur punk rocker in an amazing one man band. Introverted guy who produces some raw music for the Internet and YouTube. I also love rock and roll, WWE, Giants baseball, movies, and my awesome friends and my girlfriend.

My honest thoughts about this decade so far.:
My honest opinion about this decade so far. The 2010s.
Music: I think mainstream music these days is pretty whack. Rock is nearly dead, hip hop is still bi***es, hoes, and money. Metalcore overstayed its welcome. Dubstep is OK. But electro pop is just another rip off of something from the 80's. And the 80's was a bad decade too for music. At least there's underground music that's out there. There's good music out there, but it's hard to go through all of them.
Movies: I honestly think there are some good movies coming out. Seems like every year, there's always gonna be a bad movie and a good movie in theaters.
TV: Reality shows are now trashier and smuttier than ever. But there a...

I learned how to open my ears and mind reading this story.:
"A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that 1,100 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.
Three minutes went by, and a middle aged man noticed there was musician playing. He slowed his pace, and stopped for a few seconds, and then hurried up to meet his schedule.
A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman threw the money in the till and without stopping, and continued to walk.
A few minutes later, someone leaned against the wall to listen to him, but the...

Being in bands hasn't been very convenient for me.:
Because of a lot of difficulty handling a stable lineup with the Patrick Lew Band and adding a bit of extra chaos and procrastination within the band, production for the Patrick Lew Band has ceased once again. Even if I might or might not be in a band again, I will continue recording new albums with Heavy Sigma and continue doing DIY here in the Bay Area when getting this original music of mines heard. I personally would like to take a step forward and not backwards whenever I'm making music. As far as the songwriting, guitar riffs, and the production goes.

How I found the free and cheap alternative to cable TV.:
I wrote a long interesting and informative story about this subject. I'm one of the people who cut the cord and found a better way to enjoy watching TV and I wanted to share my story with people. You can read it here.

The new Xbox.:
So far, I'm thinking the Xbox One is better than the PS4 as far as features are concerned right now. I don't like how it's not backwards compatible with Xbox 360 games but the controller is way nicer looking than that ugly PS4 controller with that touchpad in the middle. It's great now that the new Xbox has Blu Ray. Will I get it? Perhaps. But I'm gonna wait a little while until my Xbox 360 is finally obsolete.

I'm definitely not a live performing type of musician.:
I'm definitely not the type of musician or artist who is comfortable playing onstage. I often get paranoid about sounding awful and people not liking what I just done. I never get nervous, but I want my music to sound good onstage. But then again, not every band can sound better live than they do in the studio. I am more comfortable with sound design, producing my own music, and writing my own songs. I also have a hard time remembering how to play the songs I wrote on guitar and the lyrics to go with it.
|
Say NO to pay to play as a band.:
Personally, I don't think I'm the type of guy who plays a show or is ready to perform onstage. But there's one thing we can all agree on, pay-to-play and pre-sale shows are a joke. No established local band would fall for it. I'm a novice when it comes to live performing, and even I avoided it and dodged a bullet.

Door to door jobs suck. Especially if there's no hourly salary.:
Today, I worked a door to door job for Commerce Energy. And it was the WORST mistake I've made recently.
I would be working 6 days a week for 12 hours going from city to city going to people's doors so we can lower the gas they're paying on their PG&E bills. No hourly salary, lot of angry neighbors and rejections, and everything would be based off commissions. That's less than I would be making in retail or fast food. Plus I'm being paid to scam people I figured.
The thought about working for a company that swindles others and having almost no time for family and friends with no hourly salary really bothered me. I quit my job at Commerce Energy. I'm gonna look for another job that's m...

Going to a concert next Sunday!:
I am stoked for May 5th. I am going to see the band Tesla in concert at the Regency Ballroom! And they are one of the bands that influenced me as an artist.

I got a backup musician in the studio!:
I'm collaborating with my record label's owner Chris. I'm recording rough tracks of my musical ideas on guitar along with my vocals. And my bossman Chris was enthusiastic and nice enough to add drum and bass guitar overdubs to my demos. I owe him a lot of thanks for helping me out with my new music.
Check out my record label's page here on Facebook. Say hi to Chris for me.

[last edited on Tue Mar 12, 2013 @ 11:29 AM] Hey Patrick, real nice of you to drop through. Had a good time checking in on the Heavy Sigma project, really fun and creative choices....and hey, that's some fine acoustic work (damn, the rest of it just kicked in...wow!) I'm hearing. Keep up the excellence, remember to always strive for happiness while keeping life musical, everything else is just gravy.
