Critics Corner Music Contests Each Week:
The new format for the Critics Corner Music Contest is going over very well.
Each week for 3 weeks out of a month, 10 submissions are considered and the top 3 from each of the 3 weeks pass on to the final contest in the 4th week.
Drop by with your music and join the contest or just listen to the music of others and vote for your favorites.

Another go at the Critics Corner Slugfest:
From some more positive responses from the members of Soundclick and Critics Corner, I've decided to commit to another try at running a contest that is less competitive.
I have already revealed most of the rules in Critics Corner in the last discussion session on the previous contest thread. I hope the new rules and guidelines will open up to more good will and a willingness to listen to all the contestants.
Lets keep our fingers crossed and if you pass by here, please check the contest out on Critics Corner... it should be up and running by Friday the 13th (gulp)

End of my connection with the Critics Corner Contest:
Ah well all good things must end even if they are good, but short lived.
The Critics Corner music contest was the idea of Minimack. I got involved originally as a judge and did some of the work when Mini was not available for the final stages. The following contests led to my further involvement until this last one when I did all the work because Mini is off building his dream studio.
It all was going well with the voting zipping along for the finalists. I will not go into details but with one person with a strong lead, it looked like a sure win. The 2nd and 3rd place entrants had some decent votes.
However, controversy entered the picture when the lead entrant was accused of promot...

Hey Larry, just thought it was about time that I thanked you for adding The Modems to your station. Your support is appreciated, as is your encouragement in the competitions (we are writing our Halloween entry this week). I have found that here on Soundclick that its so easy to get caught up in all the many forums that it can make you forget to post regularly, and I'm just starting to appreciate that it takes work and dedication to regularly post on here, so I take my hat off to those that can do so and still make tunes as well (I do notice that as well as a big presence on the forums, you also regularly post songs which, my friend, must take a hell of a lot of patience and work, congratulations)
Soooo, I know its a bit late but Im trying to thank everyone for a station add, so, thanks Larry. I'm looking forward to your Halloweeen entry too, so please let me know when its up.

Hey Larry! Thanks for your kind & insightful comment--it's the truth, really. I do this music thing for reasons obscure beyond my understanding, but part of it is sort of a sonic journal. My life experiences, especially in response to the people who have mattered to me in some way, find their way into the music I do. Thank goodness, I think, that the elegies are over for the time being.
Thanks again for the comment, and thanks for what you're doing with the CC contest these days. It's really become quite a special place right now thanks in no small part to what you're doing.

Hey Larry--Thanks for the comment on the photos. It's taken me all this time to notice that you'd left a comment--I don't check very frequently. The pics don't do the garden justice, but they flatter my animals--they're really a bunch of mangy beauty contest rejects, but then so am I, so we get along pretty well.
And, no, central Maine is mos def not NYC.
It's been raining here for nearly three solid weeks, so it looks like a cross between Seattle and Southeast Asia in the garden. I'm using the time to bond with my new National baritone tricone but I haven't quite gotten to the recording portion of the program.
But I will!
