Martin Adams has been playing music for over 40 years. His professional career spans all styles of music from rock to country. He has opened for many well known artist like Tanya Tucker, Exile, Sawyer Brown and many others. He has released 4 cd's as a solo artist and one with the Impact Community Church worship band. Marty's latest release is called "Everyday People" and it is being distributed internationally as well as locally. Marty currently works as Pastor of Worship and Fine Arts at Florence Christian Church in Florence Oregon.
Why this name?
It is the one my mom and dad gave me when I was born. All kidding aside, one of the band names we use in various venues is "The Rhody River Band". My sister in law darci came up with that one. We have what is called the "Rhody Days" weekend here in Florence and we liked the sound of it.
Do you play live?
I play at various venues on the West Coast. My band is based in Florence on the Central Oregon Coast. When not performing in solo venues, I am leading the Rhody River Band in a variety of musical events and genres. I can also be heard each week at Florence Christian Church.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet and mp3 opens the musical gates wide. You no longer have to be told what or who to listen to. The possibilities are endless.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I have over thirty years of experience in the professional music and recording industry on a variety of levels. Creating music has always been an activity that I have done on my personal time as an an enjoyable outlet for my soul. As a result, I have quite a collection of recorded and unrecorded songs that I have been approached about publishing. One day, when the time and recording company is right, I may be open to releasing some of these songs for publication. Until then, my personal music will continue to be an avenue of expression rather than a business opportunity.
Band History:
I have played music for over 41 years and have been blessed to have played around the country for many different audiences. While playing country music I had the opportunity to open for some great artist like Tanya Tucker, Collin Ray, Hal Ketchum, Sawyer Brown and others. The only part of my musical history that really matters is the years that I have devoted to honoring God with my music. The past years have all been to prepare me for what God is doing with me now here in Florence Oregon.
Your influences?
George Winston, Elton John, Keith Emerson, Richard Carpenter and Larry Carlton. I also need to include artist like Hank Williams Sr. and Jr., Chicago, Alabama and The Gaither's.
Favorite spot?
That is hard to say when you live in a place like Florence. We have the most incredible beaches and the forest I've ever seen. However, I would have to say my favorite spot would be home with my family.
Equipment used:
I currently use a Yamaha Motif 7 and 8. I also use a Privia as a controller in live events. I use the Bose L1 system for smaller venues.
Anything else...?
If I could only say one thing, it would be "Seek God!" He is there to be found and desires a relationship with you.
