Mark has been, & still is, performing music for over 20 yrs, mostly Celtic Harp (weddings, corp. functions, busker as necessary) & also works freelance as an accompanist on guitar for Flamenco dance studios, & occasionally as soloist on Classical guitar (lessons also available). The harps are designed & made by Mark (approx. 5 - 6.5 octaves) from native Australian Rosewood (fallen timber- not felled) & there are also handmade hire harps & lessons available so you can "try before you buy".
In the past, he also performed on flute, Renaissance & Baroque Lutes, Vihuela de Mano & Theorbo (basso continuo) in the Arminius Ensemble (Renaissance & Baroque music) for a few years as a soloist & accompanist.
He currently also runs an "on location, or in studio" (home) audio production / recording facility in Sydney, Australia, arranging & recording backing tracks for singers / instrumentalists in any genre, & also composes / arranges music for film & artists in various styles, influenced by the broad range of experience he has aquired over the years. Is currently working towards providing 5.1 & 7.1 surround sound & video production services for selected artists.
Has been the preferred harpist / guitarist at many venues in & around Sydney for Wedding / Corporate clients; see Message Board "LINKS" page;

Do you play live?
YES !!! I have to. Playing "live" & CD production & sales is my only source of income, & it keeps me off the pension, BUT.......
most of my "live" playing these days is busking around Sydney, & then some weddings / receptions / corp. functions, & the occasional concert, "if you can find a venue" (public liability $$$). Unfortunately, there just isn't enough "sensibly" paid work left for musicians in Sydney venues, & busking is the only real way left to keep the rent & food paid, & advertise my services to the general public without going broke.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Too soon to tell, but anything that can find a break in the current global corporate "noose" has to be supported.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Its unlikely I'd get the offer. I'd rather become my own small label. See my first signed artist at www.soundclick.com/jennethtollin

Your influences?
1st, JETHRO TULL (Ian Anderson). I still think he is one of the worlds best songwriters / arrangers from that era. (personal opinion only) Also, celtic artists O'CAROLAN, ENYA, STEELEYE SPAN, THE CORRS, DEREK BELL, ALAN STIVELL, TOUCHWOOD, "hondo" flamenco, eg; PACO PENA, PACO DE LUCIA, VICENTE AMIGO, CAMARON, RADIO TARIFA, OJOS DE BRUJOS, TOMATITO, JUAN MARTIN, KETAMA, the 15th - 18th century European composers, eg; GUEDRON, DOWLAND, CAMPRA, COUPERIN, SCHUTZ, plus all the usual suspects like BACH, HANDEL, TELEMANN, VIVALDI etc. Classical guitarists / composers, JOHN WILLIAMS, JULIAN BREAM, ANDRES SEGOVIA, MARCELO KAYATH, ALIRIO DIAZ, SLAVA GRIGORYAN, AGUSTIN BARRIOS etc etc
Favorite spot?
Any mountain trout stream on a sunny & windless day. Any concert hall, listening to a couple of good sopranos singing Couperins "Trois Lecons Tenebres", or any of Guedron or Dowlands lute ayres. Alternatively, late nights at a passionate flamenco performance (working or watching is equally enjoyable).
