Rock n Roll

The band Malachi is dedicated to playing rock music to the glory of God. We play all types of music, drawing inspiration from groups such as Creed, Chevelle and friends of the band, Alter Ego among many others. We are willing to play at any venue, so that we may reach all types of people.
Band/artist history
The band formerly known as Just Visiting- Malachi originated in response to a challenge issued by band mentor Jeff Prince. Jeff wanted a band to play on sunday nights at Yates Baptist Church for the Youth, so founding member and guitar player Jarrell Peak set out to find himself a band, thus, Just Visiting was born. Guitar player Matt Medlin came aboard, then hard hitting drummer Robert Dover. When the need for a bass player arose, Brian Hunt reluctantly filled the slot. After a bitter breakup with the original lead singer, Jarrell Peak filled in at lead singer, but a more permenant solution was discovered when long time friend and class-clown, crazy-man Chase Pickett was picked up. A change in direction was needed, so the band arrived at the name, Malachi (pronounced Ma Lah Chee). With a new name and new image, the band now had a new creative force and a solid voice to play behind. This addition provided solidity, but there were still obstacles to overcome. Many rough sounding Sunday nights passed before Malachi came into their own. They began to write new material, which caught the attention of Alter Ego Bass Player (Brian's brother in law), and he decided to give the band a break. Malachi opened for Alter Ego, and played a semi legitimate show, after professionals Alter Ego blew them away. After that show, Malachi continued to work and develop as a band, still playing on Sunday nights, and still working on original material. Malachi was then featured for the second time at the Centrifuge Night Life Show, where the intense song "Deeper" debuted. This represented the future sound of Malachi, as they developed their sound into a unique brand of rock. Afterwards, Malachi continued to play on Sunday nights. They added Blaire Benson on vocals for those events and to make the band look better. They moved into a brand new facility, and continued to develop as a band, working on new cover songs and original material. The band also worked hard with Benjamin Burgin and developed a 3 song CD sampler, picked up talented guitarist Zach Hartwell, and now is planning to play small clubs and other similar venues, such as the Attic at Yates

Your musical influences
We draw a lot of our music from incubus, and creed. We also love the 90s' and some balls out hard rock. But lately we've dipped into the gene pool of emo/screamo rock.
