maCmoses (Me And Christ Moving Obstacles So Everyone Sees) grew up in the Northeast section of Washington, D.C. He's always had a love for music. So in the mid 80's it was no surprise to anyone that he became a fan of Hip Hop. All through high school maCmoses would rap at the lunch table in the cafeteria. As a youth, a few friends of his started a band. He loved to make music and rapping was something he really excelled in. Although maCmoses stuttered at times, when it came to hip hop he was gifted to speak clearly and confidently. One of his childhood friends, Kilonzo 'L.G.' Masembwa, formed a small recording studio and maCmoses would frequently visit his house to make music. As he matured, maCmoses fell in love with the Giver of music (and every good thing) Jesus Christ! Eventually he would develop his own recording company entitled 'JESUS CHRIST TRU VINE Entertainment'. In the Spring of 2003 maCmoses became ill. His mobility was severely challenged. But with the Grace of GOD, maCmoses entered the studio in the Summer of 2004 to begin his album 'A New Path'. Each day he continues to slowly gain his mobility back, and he is convinced that JESUS will completely make him whole. Through many trials and tribulations maCmoses has become a man who truly believes in the teachings of The Holy Bible. Although he's not yet where he wants to be, he's certainly not where he's been.
Why this name?
In High School my football coach called me 'Big Mack'. In college close friends called me Mac or MacMo. After I became a Christian GOD Gave me the Wisdom to label myself maCmoses - (Me And Christ Moving Obstacles So Everyone Sees).
Do you play live?
I haven't performed live yet, but GOD Willing I will in the future!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet makes it easier to obtain music. It also makes it easier to search for underground musicians who you might not have heard of as of yet in the 'mainstream'. It's a good place to locate Christian Hip Hop artists. It's also a great place to get your product to the public nationally and internationally.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Right now, I like to be in charge. I believe Jesus will open up doors for me to get my music out there. My main goal is to get lives saved through the knowledge of JESUS CHRIST! I like being independent.
Your influences?
My musical influences have been secular being that I've grown up listening to a lot of secular hip hop. However, I rarely play secular hip hop today because of the content. But Some of my influences have been 2pac (certain tracks), Bone thugs (certain tracks), Lauryn Hill, Nas (certain tracks), Scarface (certain tracks), Lost Boyz (certain tracks). I'm always looking for new tight Christian rap these days. Some of the Holy Hip Hop artists I have been spinning lately are shai linne, Json, and The Blueprint Movement, Cross Movement, Ason, and I just purchased The Yuinon's Genocide CD.
Favorite spot?
Well, I like where I'm from DC. But I also like parts of Pennsylvania. I have friends in Westchester, Coatesville, and Phoenixville Pa. But really I like every peaceful place.
Equipment used:
I'm learning how to produce, but the only equipment I use personally is an ASR-10. I produced my upcoming album with an Ensoniq EPS! I know these keyboards are old but they still pack a powerful punch!
Anything else...?
Basically, I just want to say no matter what you are going through today, tomorrow will come. JESUS is the only solid thing we have in this life. Find your purpose in HIM!
