K8lyn Shabazz has been playing music for a long time and this is one of the many endeavors she has taken on throughout her career. She is a classically trained pianist and vocalist and also plays guitar in a currently untitled band in another project. She is also a member of the Tra$h Money Millionaires, a hip hop based group who are gaining a reputation for some heavy bad ass beats. This project here is K8lyn's experimentation with electronic music and applying her immense knowledge of music theory to something completely new. K8lyn hopes to continue making music for the rest of her life and she is certainly a rising star so be on the look out for this girl!
Why this name?
Well my name is K8lyn, I have spelled it that way since high school and the name Shabazz was used among various characters created among my friends and I in high school and it just kinda stuck to my name so here I am
Do you play live?
I havent in a long time but I love it. I love playing for people and just feeding off the energy of everyone. With this stuff here though, I think that would be hard to play live.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it makes it so much better for musicians to get a chance to be heard that would otherwise not really have much of a chance. I feel lucky to have this opportunity, and I am also glad to be able to get to hear other musicians too so I think it certainly changes it for the better!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Just so long as I wouldn't have to change my style
Band History:
I started out playing piano when I was about 8 years old, though I always would tinker around at the piano and figure out little tunes. I took up guitar in middle school and yeah, I was a band geek from like grades 4 to 8, playing the clarinet. So in high school I played guitar and bass, and ended up in a punk rock band called Insignificant Other. That was fun for a while but the lead singer was a total fascist asshole so it didnt last for too long. Sadly since high school I have been a solo act (ha) but I think its cool, I like producing the electronic stuff because I can do that on my own and I am trying to get other talented people to collaborate too. I found someone who is extraordinarily talented whom I am excited to be working with. go here -- classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=5,0,0,0" WIDTH=468 HEIGHT=60>

So thats about my story in a nutshell. I hope to make an impact on the music world someday, don't care if I don't make a dime but it would be nice if I did at the same time, but that is not what its about at all.
