My name is Johnniemane. I'm a singer/songwriter/producer/part time hip hop artist.
Why this name?
Johnniemane was a name given to me by some people I went to high school with. It went from just being a nickname to the cornerstone of my personality; like an alter ego. Ten years later, the name still holds effect with everyone around me, as well as the artist that I have become.
Do you play live?
I LOVE to play live. Nothing is more exciting than to see people vibing to music that I created. I remember the first time I played live in Memphis. When I took the stage, a lot of people stood in amazement and smiles came across a lot of the faces in the crowd. It was a moving experience for me.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet in regards to the music industry is a blessing and a curse. It allows the consumer the opportunity to tell the industry what they like and in turn, can make a star out of an ordinary person. But at the same time, with the big problem with internet piracy, it's hard for the artist, as well as the industry in general, to make a profit off of their own creations.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Definitely....isn't that the dream of any artist anyway? I wouldn't sell out commercially like many artists do, because I feel that my music is unique and can stand on its own. But, to sell out just for the sake of fame, I don't think I can do that.
Band History:
Every now and then a new artist comes along with something new to the game. Something that makes you stop and listen. Something that demands your attention. This new artist brings new meaning to his genre of music, and makes you rethink everything you thought it was supposed to be.

Johnniemane is that new artist.

Hailing from South Memphis, the self-proclaimed "King of Memphis R&B" is here to take throne as music entity. Fueled by today’s urban music market, Johnniemane comes to challenge everyone; lyrically, musically, spiritually. He believes that many artists today lack creativity and versatility in their craft, as well as lost the essence of what R&B used to be. But, instead of using old school techniques of crooning and piping soul ballads, Johnniemane has fused a new sound; "Crunk R&B", which mixes soulful melodies with grimy rap beats.

Johnniemane also believes that today’s lyrics are not anything to be pleased with. In his opinion, most artists have one agenda and that’s all they write about. Johnniemane’s lyrics, on the other hand, tell stories of trials, tribulations, heartache, success, pain, and joy. He puts as much though into his lyrics as he does passion for his craft, and has perfected his rhyme schemes and patterns. His versatility as singer, producer, and even part-time rapper makes Johnniemane a force to be reckoned with. Still not convinced? Check out his track, "The Reason", and decide for yourself.....
