Bro. Jim knew as a child that there was something special for him to do. Growing up in Mississippi, he struggled with alcohol and drug addiction. Running from God and the call on his life, he sank deeper into drugs and alcohol until the Lord got his attention.

It was in 1986 that Jim gave his heart to the Lord but there were still trials and turmoil in his life.

In 1993, Jim made a complete commitment to the Lord and in late 1994, he went to school to become a minister of the Gospel. In 1995, Jim completed his studies and started full time in the ministry, pastoring in Mississippi and Missouri.

After winning the 1999 Airplay International Achievement of Merit Award for Christian Music, Jim decided to go into Evangelism and pursue his singing full time in the year 2000.

Also in 1999, he was already receiving blessings from his work for God as Jim was privileged to release his first radio single, Wishes, with Circuit Rider Records, which was a great success. This inspired Jim and helped him tremendously to catapult his ministry. In 1999, Jim's project, "Still Holding On" was recorded and opened doors to Missouri, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Ohio,West Virginia, Oklahoma and Mississippi.

The year 1999 also brought great success to Jim as he received nomination from the CGMA for Shepherd of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Entertainer of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. In 2000, Jim won the Horizon Award for the ICMA Germany for the song, Still Holding On. In the year 2001, Jim released the song, Lord Paint My Mind, on Cabin Creek Records as well as in 2001 the song, A Cross Upon A Hill, was released on EHK Records and got great overseas exposure and airplay.

In October of 2003, Jim joined Glory Train Records to release the single, He Said, which is currently No. 23 on the God Country International Chart as well as No. 84 in the Southern Gospel Chart.

Jim is the Founder and General Director of Revival Fires Ministries and Pastor of Bethesda Chapel, in Old Town, Maine.

Jim would also like to thank Brenda Davis of Crossroads Ministries in Old Town, Maine, a special friend that has opened her heart and door to this ministry. Jim is the Assistant Director of Crossroads Ministries Resource Center.

Jim has two CDs, Favorites Forever and Jim Russ Live as well as the cassette tape, Still Holding On. His Newest CD entitled Alright Already will be ready soon featuring such songs as Alright Already and Something's Going on in the Graveyard,and Jim's First # 1 song WORE OUT just to name a couple.

Jim is ordained and licensed through UCMI and is also a member of the AACC.

His "Revival Fires Ministries" is about seeing Souls Saved, Healed and Delivered as Bro. Jim is an Evangelist and Pastor.

His daughters, Jamie and Jennifer, live in Mississippi with his grandchildren, Dalton, Austin, Gracie and Alana.
