I am a neo-romanticist composer with a wide variety of inspirations from 19-20th century classical music to scores for film. Though I’ve been active musically all my life, I can’t help but attribute my appreciation of music partly to the music from video games which were probably the most accessible way for me to engage the musical world apart from the usual classical repertoire. So by accepting these as my roots, I’ve done a lot of arranging of music from the Final Fantasy series in some of my favorite styles because a) I enjoy it, and b) other people seem to enjoy it too.
Band History:
I have been composing and arranging music for digital (MIDI) orchestras since 1997/98 and am a music graduate of Queen's University.
Your influences?
My musical influences stem mostly from the classical realm including such composers as Mahler, Shostakovich, Vaughan Williams, Prokofiev, Debussy, Ravel, Wagner, and Dvorak. I also have several influences from film composers such as James Horner, John Williams, Alan Silvestri, Basil Poledouris, and Elliot Goldenthal.
Equipment used:
Hundreds of orchestral scores and recordings. :)
