Playing his first gig in 2006 at the Half Moon in Herne Hill (a gigging favourite of Mott the Hoople and other such acts of the time) James Doyle went on to play several gigs at Chatham's Tap n Tin (the venue that launched the careers of such acts as Pete Doherty and cult metal band Reasonable Doubt) and played a part in a number of Oxfam charity events as well as performing at Whitechapel's Urban bar. Recently taken under the guidance of Broken Chord Promotions he hopes to make an impact in the acoustic rock scene. Born in Medway into an Irish family James has inherited a typically Irish personality, full of passion, love, and sometimes hate. He couples all these things with a distinctly British sense of cynicism and disdain as well as a vast array of musical influences to deliver intelligent and heartfelt acoustic rock both as a solo artist and in the near future as part of The Everlast Theory.
"I deliver snapshots of emotions and I hope they move people as much as I was moved or hurt in those moments that I started spewing lyrics. It's all about communication."

Do you play live?
I thrive on it, I love producing songs with arrangements etc. but these songs start as solo acoustic pieces and it's great to get them out there in that pure state.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's a double edged sword, it's easier than ever to distribute muic, but easier to steal it also. What concerns me most is the myspace generation who no longer need to leave their bedrooms, who add a band to their friends, and if they like them torrent everything and don't go to shows or buy cd's. I've noticed a major decrease in numbers at local venues since myspace came in. At the same time you need to have a myspace page to get noticed.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I don't understand artists who refuse to sig to a major label, or fans who hate bands for it, why wouldn't you want a larger audience?
Your influences?
John Mayer, Porcupine Tree, The Tea Party, Radiohead, Muse, 3 Doors Down, Brand New, Bayside, Jeff Buckley, Howie Day, Pink Floyd, and many others.
Equipment used:
Currently using a couple of cheap acoustics recording on a mac.
Anything else...?
Just a big thank you to my good friends for their love and support to make sure I survived some tough times.
