(the original name is "IVANA MARIJA VIDOVIC" and in English "Vidovich")
"Ivana Marija Vidovic is a young croatian pianist"
Ivana Marija Vidovic is a young croatian pianist, born in Dubrovnik where she finished the conservatory of music and art "Luka Sorkocevic" and
graduated at the academy of music in Ljubljana (Slovenia).
Apart from the concerts in Croatia she has performed in Slovenia, Italy,
United States, Bosnia and Hercegovina.
In England she had a successful debut in London (summer 2002) and soon she will return again to give concerts in London and Wales.
She has been invited to give a debut in Madrid and Canada as well this year.
Besides her interest and passion for the work of Russian masters (Rachmaninov, Skriabin) and Chopin, Liszt’s, Schumann’s and Schubert’s works, particularly Bach have a significant place in her repertoire. And of course, the inevitable and unique Mozart!
Undoubtedly, one of the greatest temptations and virtues of Miss Vidovic is setting music that she studies into poetry, as she is also a poet. During the last season she has realized a few programmes and evenings of her own poetry based on Schumann’s works.
..She began with a piece of music written for her by the Slovenian composer Žiga Stanic, “In memoriam”.
It was a very moving experience for the pianist and audience alike, played with great intensity and, it seemed to me, finally resolving into a feeling of serenity, hope and peace
London, July, 2002
Ivana played The Suite Española op. 47 by Albéniz with enormous skill and obvious enjoyment.
The audience was swept along by the exciting rhythms and exuberance of the music.
We were almost dancing with Miss Vidovic
Such was the audience’s enthusiasm that Miss Vidovic was called upon to give two encores, equally well received.
It was a privilege to be there!
