Hi - I'm Ian, and I'm a singer/songwriter from Leicester, England. I write in a number of styles, from finger-picked folk/country tunes, to up-tempo soft rock numbers - my influences are quite varied and sometimes it shows. What I'm sure of though is that if people dip into my catalogue they should hopefully find something that they like.

Over the last few months of 2005 I got a major dose of the writing bug, and the result was a new batch of songs to put 'out there'. These were recorded in January, and a number of them uploaded here. THE FULL CD ALBUM, 'COMMUNICATION OVERDUE' IS NOW AVAILABLE AT CDBABY.COM.

LATEST NEWS - ALBUM AVAILABLE ALSO ON WWW.WOVENWHEATWHISPERS.COM

Its now Autumn of 2007, and this must be a favourite season because once again new songs are flowing. I will be previewing these in upcoming gigs, and hoping to have them recorded and up here on soundclick in the New Year.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Anything that lets musicians get their songs out to a wider audience can only be a good thing
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes I would, although I'm not sure that I'm what they're looking for ! Nowhere near photogenic enough ! Would like to think though that it might be possible to get my songs published and recorded by others - you've got to have dreams.
Band History:
I've been writing songs since I was sixteen, but have only been playing live for ten years. I started out playing open mic spots at the City Acoustic Club in Leicester. As well as gaining valuable experience and feedback there, I was also fortunate enough to play spots on nights where guests like Pete Morton & Robb Johnson headlined and learnt a great deal about performing and writing from such great artists.

For several years I gigged as half of a duo called Evangeline (named randomly from an Ian McNabb track-listing!) with my friend Pete Raj, and we occasionally still do shows together, although Pete's rockier tastes mean much of his time is now taken up with a band called The Mile. Highlights have included playing a festival in Leicester, a few trips down to London, and playing with the Diesels, but I'm sure the best is still to come !!

There is a CD out released early in 2006 (see above), and I'm really proud of the songs that are on there. Several of them are here on Soundclick now - I hope that you'll enjoy them - as well as some like Reunion Day that are currently only available here.
Your influences?
I love so much music that its hard to narrow down, but here goes.... 5 songs I wish I'd written and inspired me to try are Nanci Griffith - Love at the 5 & Dime, Pete Morton - Another Train, The Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever, Crowded House - Fall at Your Feet, Snow Patrol - Rise. So, from a Texan country singer to an Irish indie band, via the Beatles - pretty eclectic, but always melodic.
Equipment used:
Its just me, my voice and my acoustic guitar - no overdubs or artificial additives!
Anything else...?
All recordings done at Stayfree Studios, Leicester - thanks to Kev Reverb for engineering, mixing and producing.

'TINSELTOWN' - Download available here at soundclick, or at indiestore....all proceeds to cancer support charity in Dudley, England. Many thanks for your support.
