If you've ever drifted a long way from home and thinking about the people you used to know, this is the track to play.
Hi! and welcome to Gray Wave's site on Soundclick. I'm Graham and the band doesn't amount to much more than me and my 'puter. More a rock brand than a rock band really. But the music - well that's as real as it can be. I love music. I love making music. And I hope that comes across in the songs. What you'll hear here is basically rock and pop with a bit of folk, classical, country, dance - you name it - there in the mix.
If you want to read some more about the band or - it's always possible! - buy one of our albums, go to our site at . There's loads of stuff there.Band/artist history
Gray Wave was formed just last year. We put out our first album towards the end of 2005 and we're working on getting the next one out as soon as we can. All the songs are there, we're just into the production phase. Sign up for the mailing list and we'll let you know when it's out.Have you performed in front of an audience?Ive been in bands before and I've played live and it's great. It's a real rush but I don't really have the ego for it - the rewards are just not worth the hassle.
Your musical influences
As I say, I listen to everything. (I'm listening to The Who as I write this but I was listening to Brahms half an hour ago.) I grew up with rock and roll and the Beatles and the Stones and then turned to David Bowie. But I loved Dylan, Fairport Convention, Marvin and Smokey, Neil Diamond, Don McLean and a thousand others. Later, just when I though rock and pop was dying, there was Punk and New Wave (gotta mention Joe Jackson!). These days, it's REM, Alanis Morissette and the Mercy Bell. Somewhere in there are The Kinks, Quo, James Taylor, The Bangles, Michael Jackson, The Cranberries, Fleetwood Mac, Leonard Cohen, and all the rest! What equipment do you use?
I write all the Gray Wave songs. I do it mostly on my old Gibson guitar and then write it down on the computer. Lately though, I've been writing directly on the computer. I use a scoring program called Harmony Assistant from Myriad Software in Toulouse, France. Either way, I then do all the 'post production' stuff on the computer and save the results as WAV and MP3.Anything else?
Yeah. The thing I should have mentioned about not doing live shows is that you don't get the groupies. Probably the best reason for youngsters to keep strutting their stuff on the stage. Maybe we'll get cyber-groupies. That could be good too...
