Welcome to my page. It will contain my own recordings of my own songs. I am based in Chester UK and play every week in the city at Alexanders as well as other gigs around the area.
There will also be some recordings with my old partners, Steve Goodchild (who now lives in Texas) and the Deacons - we were a popular West Midlands folk group in the 1980s and still get together once in a very blue moon.
For recordings by my current bands 'Root Chords' and 'The Doghouse Roses' please go to www.soundclick.com/rootchords and for more information about me or the band go to our website www.rootchords.com
Hope you enjoy something you find here - do let me know.
You can get more of my recordings and cover art from the excellent Woven Wheat Whispers folk download site: http://www.wovenwheatwhispers.co.uk/
Why this name?
- Because 'Grumpy Old Men' was already taken!
Do you play live?
Sure do. It's what I play for - I find recording a rather lonely and unreal experience. It's making the audience part of the gig that I love.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It blows it wide open and makes the industry irrelevant to the real joy of making and sharing music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No - not even if I was ever asked
Your influences?
Too many really but every day I thank Bob Dylan, Blind Blake, the Stones, Big Bill Broonzy, Guy Clark, both McTells (Ralph and Blind Willie), Show of Hands, Martin Carthy, Robert Johnson, Steve Tilston,Lonnie Donegan, Bert Jansch and John Renbourne, the Faces, Steve Earle, Hank Williams, Planxty, Sleepy John Estes, Led Zep and Al Stewart - without whom.......
Favorite spot?
