Comments from Richard Anderson:

GONE WILD came from an intial plan that Rob had that I should do a solo album, Basically if that were to be then I wanted to have some of my best friends on the album with me, well given the amount of work that everyone had dedicated to this release, I figured it a far better idea to release the album under a band name hence GONE WILD was born.

...We were never going to make an album that was going to be a top 40 fly-by-night chart hopper one minute and then a bargin bin yesterdays-news the next minute. We'll leave that to the douchbags that want the fame and the $$$'s. All we set out to do with this album was to make an album that WE would be proud to listen to, if we managed to attract a few fans along the way then AWESOME...This is a project that we have all stood by and poured our personalities into, there are going to be things that some people might not find appealing, but that's merely someone elses belief....rock 'n' roll is about being a little arrogant and a little over the edge....hell we moved the edge and slashed its tyres....The mushy-pea brigade that expect certain things everytime they read our names has us ALL WRONG....we are rockers and this is a rock project.

Comments from Rob Smith:

To all our online friends, I thought I would drop you a few lines about our new project "GONE WILD".

Since Richard and I met up back in 2003 or something, we talked alot about music and each others dreams.

Richard has been a big inspiration to me, and has motivated me to get 2 albums out there. He has also motivated me to do collaborations with other artists, something I would have never thought of doing, and something I have really enjoyed being a part of.

Richard has been part of music since the day he was born, or so it seemed to me after we talked, I realised he knew more about music than I did, (Musical history anyway).

Richard seemed to have a real passion like me, even though he wasn't really an accomplished musician, but he wrote very inspirational lyrics about real emotions and issues, very often like the way I felt myself.

After listening to some of his past demos, I suggested that he should do a solo album.

I guess "GONE WILD" isn't a solo album, but it is a little way towards my way of thanking Richard for his inspiration, motivation, and his help.

We know that some of you good people out there that have followed some of our musical escapades, are probably a wee bit surprised at our latest album, but Richard and I are rockers at heart, so we hope you can relate to the effort and enthusiasum, that has gone into making this album, not a dream, but a reality.

Rob.

Statement from Nilsy of the North:

The vocals on this album are brilliant! Rob'n'Richard sound really great together!! Sometimes harmony, sometimes an octave apart (I think)! ..and sometimes alone (here sometimes the 10CC factor rises)!! ...and sometimes I use the word sometimes!! It has been a pleasure to work with a real bass player, and Matt is a brilliant one! The guitars of Mr. Smith is unbelievable and to hear Chris Szkup duel with Rob on "Montage" is quite something! It's been a long-time dream of mine to play together with a real sax player, - Robin Wellaway is the man!! And an extra mention of Carol Smith for superb harmonica!!.....and an extra extra mention of Richard and his lyrics - brilliant!!
Thanks to all!! ....and no sometimes this time!!
-Nils-Ole!!

Why this name?
Because it suited us.
Do you play live?
Rob and Matt are in a band called Quadraphonic, and they most certainly do play live in Taranaki, New Zealand...every moment with that band is special, like people some are more special than others.

Matt is also in a blues-based band called Don't Ask, they are currently working on their debut album.

Richard is currently working with several artists on different projects and has plans for a live band being put together at some stage in the future.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
In some ways it has messed things up...everyone is a critic and they all think because they can press the record button on their PC that they are the next Mutt Lange....however it has also blessed us with the option of making many wonderful friends, fans and colleagues the world over, for which we are most greatful.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Hell no....
Your influences?
GONE WILD sound like a cross between Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Bryan Adams, Tom Petty, ZZ Top, Gary Moore, Queen and something altogether different.

Our sound comes from a conversion of the blues, classic rock and the GONE WILD spirit.

Songwise we are influenced by wherever the mood takes us, lyrically a lot of our songs are based upon human emotions, antics...things we have seen, heard about, lived, appreciate...and a few things that get our dander up as well.
Favorite spot?
It seems we are all in love with the recording studio :-)

Anything else...?
We are currently writing and recording for several different projects...we re-convened for the recording of "GONE WILD II" in April 2007. Things are progressing there, but we don't envision an album release until 2009.

Plans are also under way for the GONE WILD & FRIENDS - "WILDER THAN YOUR AVERAGE" DVD, which may or may not be available as a commerical product.
