a good day: yesterday was the first time I had a chance to really sit down and get serious with my new horn. The last time I did any serious work on a trumpet was about 35 years ago as a band teacher. 2 hrs was plenty of time for the first practice session. I set up my old organ and Yamaha Leslie for tuning purposes. I was surprised to see them still work after sitting in storage in a trailer outside for about 10 years. I'm not locking myself in a room: this time, as I did with the guitar back in the late 2005 to learn to play. Perhaps it's something I should reconsider. The times are different and I'm a hell of a lot older with plenty of issues to go thru that again. Besides for me at this stage of my life, learning to play the flugelhorn is not a priority, it's a challenge I set for myself.
