I'm a singer/songwriter living in the San Diego area. My music is a blend of country/rock/folk/blues and even a little jazz. I try to write songs that "move" with lyrics you can kick around in your head and enjoy.
Why this name?
My mom and dad gave me my name. It's simple and I've stuck with it.
Do you play live?
I play live in coffeehouses around the San Diego area. Live music is really intense. I usually do a three hour gig with a short break. I don't like taking breaks but the guys in my band seem to need it. I'm not one of those "storyteller" types who talks for 10 minutes between tunes. I admire those guys tremendously but I like to get right to the songs.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet allows people like myself to present music to the public without the backing of a multi-million dollar label. I write it, I record it, I distribute it. It's wonderful!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Prostitute my art to the soulless ghouls that determine what's "hot" and what's "not" just for money? What kinda money are we talkin about here? Big money? Upfront money? Bring on the soulless ghouls!
Band History:
I've been writing songs for a while now. Pretty much ever since I learned to play the guitar. Playing and writing are a couple of the few things I've stuck with over the years. I like to think that I've improved as time has gone by.
Your influences?
Influences? There's a bunch: Bob Dylan, Hank Williams, Johnny Horton, Roger Miller, Neil Young, Bruce Cockburn, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Van Morrison, Chuck Berry, Little Richard....
Favorite spot?
Mendocino, California.
Anything else...?
If you stop by and listen to something, drop me a line and let me know how you liked it. I love to hear from listeners!
