Create MP3 file from audio CD (with MusicMatch)
MusicMatch is an application that allows you to play and record MP3 files.
Unlike iTunes, it also allows you to convert certain file formats (like wav files) into
the MP3 format. You can download either a premium version (called jukebox plus) or
a free version. The download link for the free version is a little bit hidden.
Both versions can be downloaded at
http://www.musicmatch.com
- Open Musicmatch Jukebox
- Click the Copy From CD button, or select the menu View/ Recorder to open the Recorder window.
- Insert an audio CD into your CD-ROM drive.
(CD Lookup will read your CD and attempt to fill in Album, Artist, and Track (Tag) information.)
- Check the boxes next to the tracks that you wish to record.
- Click the Start Copy button.
- Musicmatch Jukebox will start to record from the audio CD, to the digital file format you choose, and place recorded files into the Library.
Notes:
- By default, the record settings are already set to 128 kbps MP3 format. All standard accounts on SoundClick
are required to use this format, VIP accounts can select a higher sound quality (but not VBR).
You can change those settings by going to Options > Recorder > Settings...
- By default, the MP3s are saved in those folders:
PC: C:\My Documents > My Music
Mac: Macintosh HD > Users > Current User (indicated by the 'house' icon) > Music
