Just another guy that loves to make and listen to electronic music.

Music is my life, as cliche that may sound, its practically all I do is sit around and listen to and make music in my free time (what little I have). It's what I love to do, and I put my heart into it.

This is not my job, it's only a hobby for now - since I am active duty military and that takes up most of my time. I don't have a massive amount of free time to work with. Going to get relocated again around late September or so from Pensacola, FL to Jacksonville, FL (Mayport, more specifically) attached to a destroyer (so if I am not around for a while - you'll know why - but I'll be back and you can count on that, and when I do come back I'll be better than before.

I hope you listen to a few songs,

Take time to enjoy music!

You can buy tshirts, hoodies, etc if you want: http://www.cafepress.com/djeffectz

Oh yeah, and if anyone can think of a 'general genre' I fit in, tell me. =P
Why this name?
A funny pun on us all really. ;) (I shouldn't have to explain why that's funny) Randomness mixed in with some late night humor. Where would the electronic world be without 'effectz'? (you can laugh now =P ).
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Makes sharing your creations easier, faster, and free. Websites like Soundclick.com let people be heard who otherwise my have not been heard by many at all - gives us all a chance to share what we love to do, and for unsigned artists to compete with signed artists? That is awesome, lets us unsigned people show the world what we are made of and that you don't have to have a record contract to make good music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No. I don't want to deal with producing for a major label anytime soon. I am bound until about 2007 or 2008 anyway to the military, makes my free time sporatic.
Band History:
I've gone by Nathan Kendrick, and DJ XtraBlue (until my name was 'borrowed' and I changed it) before going as DJ Effectz. My stuff was never widespread though, and only a few had my music or had heard of it.

My musical experiences go back to childhood; I grew up in a family with musical hobbies and jobs: my father is the owner of a guitar company which he started and owns and is a luthier for (he builds instruments). We also own a music store so I grew up getting to play with whatever instruments I wanted; including some later that became mine/ours personally as favourites; the MIDI keyboards, a Yahama synth, my Japanese Fender Strat and my Clarinet (which I played in middle and HS band for 5 years and moved up to play at EKU Honors band two years, and All District band in Ashland, KY as first chair one year). I also perform in an all Navy choir based out of Pensacola, FL where I am currently stationed at.
Your influences?
I like various styles of music - not just in the electronic genre. I like to experiment with my music trying different genres out. Still looking for my niche, so to speak.
Favorite spot?
Pensacola, Florida!
Equipment used:
CURRENTLY (in my situation) I am all software based using a Sony VAIO FRV26 notebook (2.8 GHz P4, 512MB RAM), an external hard drive for storage, a pair of Sony MDRV700 DJ headphones, and a Pioneer receiver and BOSE loudspeakers for monitors in a tiny little hotel room thing (I must drive my neighbors nuts) shared with another person. I do have hardware though.. but it's back at my old home right now collecting dust - including a cheap MIDI keyboard, Yahama Synthesizer (that's NOT cheap btw..), a Japanese Fender Strat, an unfinished acoustic guitar I never had time to finish making before I left so my luthier expert of a father is finishing it - probably for the better. ;) And I have other various instruments for different kinds of music, like my Clarinet.

I'll have proper recording tools with the mixer board and GOOD mics back home. Until then, no more vocals - my laptop has a short between the line out and line in and sound leaks on recording, plus my cheap mic sounds terrible (trust me, I tried ;) ).
Anything else...?
I'm gonna be gone until next summer after this weekend - I WILL BE BACK and with lots of new stuff. So keep coming back. In the mean time, check this out: http://www.cafepress.com/djeffectz
