Hard edged electronic music from writer musicians M.J. Langley and Mouse.

Bringing diverse influences to the production process, Dirty Fire Project's tracks include dark-chill ambience and pacey breaks with an industrial sound.

With experience ranging from soundtracking and studio production to DJ-ing and having an ear for good breaks, this is steadily turning from a hobby into an extremely fulfilling part of their lives. Passing on that thrill of what this music means to them has become so important.

We hope you enjoy our work!

Why this name?
Mouse: I was thinking of lyric ideas one day while me and Mike were talking about getting together on stuff. The lyric "like dirty fire" stuck in my head and I suggested it. Mike was stoked.
Do you play live?
No live appearances yet. We've both been in a few bands and played mainstream style gigs before though.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Mouse: It shows us that there is a new context for how music is created, distributed and sold. I hope it (mp3) continues to shake up the industry until prices are fairer and artists and listeners alike get a better deal. The Internet is so important to modern music as there is such a huge amount of music being produced. If we were not able to hear of artists and bands via websites like soundclick or mp3.com then it would be so easy to miss absolute gems.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Mouse: That's a damn good question.
Your influences?
Main influences are industrial, breakbeat and drum'n'bass. Some of the tracks we're working on are kind of ambient/trancey too so it's hard to put a finger on it. The mix between smooth elements and dirty drums raises very satisfactory goosebumps. We're trying to get more work doing soundtracking so that lends a different feel and attitude to the way we work.
Favorite spot?
Mouse: I haven't travelled particularly, but I love London and Manchester. Canary Wharf in London is just such a great place for headspace. I'm told it's quite like bits of Singapore in a way, where I'd definitely like to visit. Manchester has it's own charms - Castlefield in particular. All the industrial parts are still there and are being built with rather than being demolished. It's a very interesting place.
Equipment used:
Roland synth, VST bits and pieces, Fruityloops and Ableton Live.
Mouse: Live is turning into an amazing piece of software that I advise everybody checks out.
