description
This is a short, two minute video of me performing at the Omaha Healing Arts Center, naturally, in Omaha, Nebraska on October 27, 2007.
With a deep appreciation for ethereal sounds, Deosil presents music that will stir every emotion in your body. Relax with the new sound of sonic ambience.
Why this name?
In the traditional Celtic/Earth based religion aspect it means to go clockwise. Clockwise means to gain energy and give one a sense of empowerment.
Do you play live?
I do. I have given several live performances in the Virginia beach area, most notably at The Heritage Center by the Virginia Beach oceanfront. In fact I have gotten offers to play in Philadelphia and at the Omaha Healing Arts Center in Omaha, Nebraska. www.omahahealingarts.com
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes music available for a wider audience. However, caution should be heeded because an artist works very hard to get their music out there and people should do eveything they can to support them.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Actually, I would. There are many labels out there that are ready to support new artists. As long as they (or I) have something fresh and approachable I know that the careful ear of an A&R rep will be ready to listen.
Band History:
Other Realm Music is going to be releasing Deosil's sixth album "Centering" on September 2nd, 2008.
Your influences?
My musical influences stem from quite a few people. I was classically trained and the masters like Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin are my heroes but I must say that I am deeply influenced by such artists as Brian Eno, Boards of Canada, Stars Of The Lid, Gabrielle Roth, Richard D. James (ya know, Aphex Twin), Philip Glass, Bill Lieb, Pierre Boulez (early pioneer of electronic music in the 50's), John Cage, Michael Cretu, Robert Moog (rest in peace) and too many more to name.
Favorite spot?
My favorite spot will always be Maui, Hawaii. The vibe, the energy, the mana, everything is just perfect. I highly recommend that you go.
Equipment used:
I have a full production audio mastering studio so e-mail me if you wish to have your songs mastered/prepped for demo submission. $25/song $200/full CD.

The greatest thing about the world of electronic music is that the computer/synthesizer makes it very easy to create any combination of instruments. Roland has emerged as one of the strongest sounding keyboard manfacturers in recent years. I love using the Fantom series keyboards. They are incredible sounding. I also will experiment from time to time with the vocoder capabilities of the MicroKorg analog synth. Finally, the Kurzweil SP-88 has superb key action. Tying it all together is Cubase SX3 with VST instruments and an M-Audio Ozone MIDI controller.
Anything else...?
Music should be a tool used for exploring. There are almost limitless possibilities within the sonic landscape and one should be open to new sounds.
