Why this name?
Dark skin, poetic words...DarkPoet...get it?
Do you play live?
I usually perform at jazz clubs and poetry spots. Sometimes I have a backup band, sometimes I perform acapella.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes your stuff more accessible. You get to share your craft with others and also listen to what others have to offer.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Nope. Too shady (Industry Rule #4080).I refuse to be molded and pimped by some label exec who is more interested in image than talent.
Band History:
I first performed in February, 2002 at this venue called "Soul Release." The people from Nockturnal Escape in Jacksonville gave me the drive to perform and take my poetry to another level. Hearing other poets pretty much challenged me to step my game up lyrically.
My first CD was "Don't Blink;" it went "ghetto platinum." "Overhead Abstract" is the new CD. It's gonna be like nothing you've heard before. You have been warned.

Your influences?
Rakim, Tupac, Bob Marley, Marvin Gaye...basically anyone who took their craft and elevated it.
Favorite spot?
Bar NUN in D.C. D'Jangos and The Baby Grand in ATL, Boomtown in Jacksonville, and Level II in Charleston, S.C.
Equipment used:
Pro Tools, Cool Edit, Goldwave Editing Program, Yamaha Motif, Korg Triton, Roland Fantom X8, Pearl drums, Zildjian cymbals, Washburn guitar Fender bass, Sennheiser microphones, and Sony Studio Monitor headphones...Oh, yeah...my mind and my voice.
Anything else...?
Close your eyes, open your minds, and THINK about the words that are penetrating your brain cells.

Peace...
