"I heard you said my name in a few of your lines, but didn't address, I got better things to do wit' my time, but now while its on my mind I got a even better rhyme, you ain't gotta add 8 & 1 for you to my 9."
-Renegade
Why this name?
My cousins gave me this name after I started actually recording in 2002. Since then it just stuck with me.
Do you play live?
Yeah. I perform live for a small fee. So far, the shows have been cool, just local joints, to keep a buzz going...
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It put us out there, but also it f***s up sales too, with the downloading.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yeah, after I read that sh*** about 25 times to make sure they not shitting me out of something.
Band History:
Growing up on the Westside of South Carolina ain’t easy….
It’s even worse when you’re raised in between two rival towns, Estill and Hampton, in the neighborhood of Nixville. This is the case for young producer/rapper Renegade.

In 1989, he was born in the Lowcountry. Coming up in Estill, a young man only has a few choices. He can either work his ass off to go to college, be good in sports and get noticed, or drop out and live illegally. Well… Ren finished high school, and tried college. He did the sports thing to waste time, guess it wasn’t for him. The crimes ain’t happen so far, so he tried a different route.

Ren focused on making music. For years he watched the local artist and picked up on his skills gradually. It all began in 1998, writing short songs and NEVER recording them. Over the course of 6 years, and maybe 6 or 7 name changes, he wrote more and more. This was the time he started bettering his skills, and even started producing. He also started his indie label, C.R.O. Recordingz, that year.

But people weren’t noticing Renegade until CNC dropped the mixtape “Chain Up Pt. 2” in 2006. Ren closed it out with the track “Bring It Back” and created a local buzz. The local success inspired Ren to focus more on a possible career in this music industry. By the end of 2006, he created a style, image, and recorded 3 full length albums, and 2 compilation mixtapes. In January 2007, he released “Rated. R.: The Album” with his protégé Lil’ Tony, and started working on his new album immediately. Look for the new album in 2008.
