C Ray Jones I am just a hobbyist been playing a few years and am just getting into to recording. All for fun
Band/artist history
No real history. I just picked up the guitar a few years ago and have started putting down some of my ideas. I really like making up original songs. (mostly because its easier and I have no patience, little desire or time to learn covers)
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes, in my living room, and sometimes I'll go on tour to the spare bedroom.
What equipment do you use?
I have a Fender 60th Anniversary strat (my wife bought me!) fitted with a Dimarzio Super Distortion pickup. Thats my main guitar. I also play a '98 squier MIM strat (fantastic guitar). Acoustics a Yamaha FG750S, and a FGX730 Acoustic/Electric. I have just now started getting into doing some synth stuff and synth sounds are from an old Alesis Nano...everything is being piped to a Peavey Bandit 112.
Anything else?
I am a husband and father of two. I became a Christian at the age of 25. This does not mean I have the universe figured out or anything like that. It just means I trust what the Bible says about Jesus is all true. I believe He is alive and well, and is the only hope to save us from ourselves. The bible says that God saves us by HIS grace, not by us being self-righteous or by somehow deserving it. There is no love in religious "rules". Over 2000 years ago there was a thief on a cross, next to the the cross Christ was on. This man at that time realized who Jesus was and said so at this point. Jesus told him "Today you will be with me in paradise." How many "rules" do you think this guy was able to get in line with while hanging on the cross until he died? Surely he could not have followed any of the many hundreds of rules that have been made up in the last couple hundred years by countless religions or sects. Rules like: 'Dont listen to this, dont eat that, dress like this,etc...etc.' In contrast, be free in Christ, free to love, free to to live. Free to serve those in need. How much help are you in this world worrying about yourself all the time? Does this mean anything goes? No, of course not, He deserves our reverence and respect. Accepting Gods grace and forgiveness will change your heart and your life forever. I know I sure am counting on Gods grace as my life is full of mistakes (some of them big ones). I'll admit this seems difficult to grasp, as we are used to following rules or not, and thinking we are in control. Jesus' sacrifice on the cross was enough, there is really nothing more you can do to improve upon it. What can we really do in this messed up world? Actually, alot....you could start by changing a life forever by sponsoring a kid through: http://www.worldvision.com I dont pretend to be a musician. The guitar has just been a good hobby for me. Ive really enjoyed all the cool people Ive met through it. I appreciate everyone who has helped me with these tunes. You all have been very encouraging. It has been a great experience.
