BIOGRAPHY
Count.Zero is a one-man progressive/scifi/art rock project conceived by keyboardist Tony De Laender, hailing from Brugge, Belgium. Think of it as Vangelis meets Tangerine Dream meets JM Jarre and some others. Synthesizer music, but with added balls & chunk!
The project saw first light when in 1999, an internet mailing list was looking for artists to contribute to a compilation cd called eProgeny, featuring 10 tracks from artists from all over the world, all offering some form of synth-driven progressive rock. The track Cold Coffee was selected for this cd, albeit in an edited version, and got some decent reviews in various prog-related magazines and webzines. After this brief moment of success, the project sort of grinded to a halt while Tony focused on more pressing matters in his life. The idea never died though.
Fast-forward. After a few years of playing keyboards in Fishfull (2002-2005), and yet another period of dealing with the way life sometimes plans things just a little different than you do, the Count.Zero project is revived. Writing and demoing for "Dark Star" has entered its final stages and is ready to be recorded “for real”, to be released as a CD in 2013, funds permitting.
In 2011 Tony rejoined Fishfull to start rehearsals for the recording of their debut album.
Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre, Art Of Noise, Tangerine Dream, Michael Kamen, Basil Poledouris, Angelo Badalamenti, actually too many to mention. I have a very eclectic taste in music, which reflects in my own.
